There's just something sweet about the image that this 2009 Lumix camera produces. Today, for less than $200 globally, the GH1 is an amazing bargain. The GH1 provides great colours and textures straight out of the camera. It may seem as though the M43 big brands are moving towards a more polished, digital looking image. While the GH1 does not have 4K or IBIS, it does possess a unique sensor which actually kicked off the micro four thirds 1080p revolution. There are some great programs available now that allow cinema buffs like yourself to upscale 1080p footage into detailed, vivid looking 4K video. Couple this with an OIS lens and the limitations of this camera can really work for you. I've reviewed and tested most (if not all) of the Lumix GH1 patches in existence since 2011. I've now created what I believe to be one of the most resilient "Native 24p/25p" patches to date. The "GOP Solid" patch combines low to moderate bitrates with long '15' GOP settings across the board to ensure maximum stability. This patch also incorporates settings from; LPowell's Blackout patch, Rigs' GOP3 patch and Tetakpatak's Varigop patch. It is only due to their time and effort I can hope to extend interest in the GH1. I have intentionally tested this patch in PAL mode on detailed, over-exposed, grassy and leafy scenes. Attached to my GH1 is the Panasonic Lumix 14-42mm (H-FS014042) lens at 14mm (the widest end). I am using a SanDisk Ultra 120MB/s SDHC 32GB SD card (pictured below). I got zero write errors or card lock-ups with this patch. Bitrates can vary depending on lighting and scene detail. Please download, stress test this patch yourself and let me know your results. N.B. I have not tested this patch in 24p or 720p40/50 modes. I chose the 'Nature' picture profile with the following settings: Contrast: -2, Sharpness: 0, Saturation: 0, Noise Reduction: -2. Please fine tune these settings to your liking and report back.

Teradek Sphere (360 degree live streaming video) http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14982/teradek-sphere-360-degree-live-streaming-video Mon, 18 Apr 2016 23:38:54 +0000 IronFilm 14982@/talks/discussions http://www.cnet.com/news/teradek-sphere-will-change-how-live-360-degree-vr-video-is-created/

From there you can use, for example, an iPad to view the video and dynamically adjust white balance, tint, exposure and lens distortion in real time for each camera. You can monitor the video in three different ways -- Perspective, Panoramic and Headset -- so you can see just how your viewers will see your content, whether that's on a mobile device, in a Web browser or in a VR headset.

The Sphere app can then be used to live-stream the 360-degree video to platforms like Wowza and YouTube, which now supports live-streaming 360-degree content.

"With the ability to stream to any destination at bit rates of up to 10Mbps and the flexibility to work with any rigged camera setup from GoPro to RED, Sphere will be the go-to solution for high-quality 360 streaming," said Teradek Brand Manager Topher DeLancy. "As VR grows we feel it will be another powerhouse media division alongside cinema, gaming and broadcast."

The Teradek Sphere will be available in June for $3,000 (approximately AU$3,875 or £2,100), but you can get a taste of its performance right now via a live-stream of the NAB 2016 convention or by downloading the free iOS app.

CNC and 3D printing for DSLR/photography http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13841/cnc-and-3d-printing-for-dslrphotography- Sat, 26 Sep 2015 05:47:35 +0000 Arco 13841@/talks/discussions Dear guys, my name is Arek and I am GH2 owner. Since I bought my camera over 2 years ago I thought of tell You what am I doing. I am an owner of company specialized in High Resolution 3D Printing (Stereolithography) based in Poland, but a lot of time I spend helping my Dad in his company as 2nd CNC Operators Trainer/Teacher.

What does it mean to You?

It means that we have got 2 CNC machines - newest, few years used lathe and older, but launched few days ago milling machine which we can offer You! We are not typical producing company, because main area of activity is training, but why not to use our capacity. In managing area that kind of production is called MTO - Make To Order. If You have any ideas which we could work with, please let me know. From myself I can say, that we can produce for You cages, clams, rig parts etc but first of all, we need drawings. If anyone would be interested in I can also offer 3D printing but first I need to get 3D model in .stl format.

If You have any questions or quotes let me know in the post or PM!

Would be great to work with You all, because I love to work with hobbyists. I am ex modeler and Poznań University Of Technology graduate - I love to produce stuff ;)

Kind Regards, Arek

Few important things to remember.

1. BIN prices are mostly very strange, do not buy using them.
2. Wait for auction of the same item or contact seller directly.
3. Remember that they have their site with shop now - http://www.gini1.com/
It looks pretty strange with many cloned products, etc, so be sure to contact them first.
4. If you do not like particular design or need extra items - also contact them directly.

Overall - same as ThrusMT for follow focuses, Gini is best option is you want really quality item for small price.

I hope that they will be present on our forum soon, so feel free to ask some questions or write suggestions.]]>
Low Cost GH3 Rig http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6807/low-cost-gh3-rig Thu, 25 Apr 2013 16:46:37 +0000 Sph1nxster 6807@/talks/discussions After the hot shoe on one of my GH3s broke i started looking into solutions for mounting an LED light on top for our next wedding.

We ended up getting an Opteka X-Grip MK II.

The only modification I had to make to it was to cut off the legs because they interfered with our tripods and buy a 1/4 UNC bolt and cut to size for mounting the quickplate underneath.

All in all it set me back £38 and I'm now able to mount all our other stuff at the side as well which is a big bonus.

It just fits the GH3 with battery grip and if positioned far enough right it can allow for battery changes as well into the grip.

If you are not needing to mount a lot of kit then this works very well and keep everything light weight.

Lightweight, Rugged rig solutions for use with GH2 on a trekking expedition... http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5145/lightweight-rugged-rig-solutions-for-use-with-gh2-on-a-trekking-expedition... Thu, 08 Nov 2012 20:52:09 +0000 SAS 5145@/talks/discussions Hi.

I am on the lookout for a rig, particularly some sort of collapsible yet rugged reliable shoulder mount for the GH2.

And a decent Tripod. I want to take this hiking and trekking on a journey which will take around 2 months.

So I need it to be lightweight, rugged and sturdy.

Suggestions?

Bushido prod. rigs http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4770/bushido-prod.-rigs Sun, 30 Sep 2012 04:51:56 +0000 Zed 4770@/talks/discussions Bought this rig at Bushido production ebay seller. It should be delivered tomorrow I think. I can take some photos if anyone is interested. Looks like the quality and overall design are very good. It seems it's fully USA made product at a decent price. Actually the prices were even lower sometime ago. I've got mine for $255 plus 65 bucks for the shipment to Russia. Anyway the sellers feedback is 100% positive and I think it's a good deal. Pay some attention some of current deals are about to end soon.

Waiting for the listing ...

GH3/GH2/GH1 Cage CNC Solid Block Aluminium Development http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3250/gh3gh2gh1-cage-cnc-solid-block-aluminium-development- Fri, 18 May 2012 06:07:12 +0000 jakef 3250@/talks/discussions Firstly I would like to thank everyone's input regarding the GH2 as well as details about cage requirements throughout Personal View. VK I like that you say things as it is... also all developers thank you and well done with the "The Great Camera Shootout" results!

I'm currently finalising Cad drawings for the Cage, my idea is to make a cage that would complement the GH2 visually as well as being practical in a profesional environment.

I know we would like all bells and wistles (anything can be made or added) but please keep in mind that i need to keep the cost down as so far machining time looks to be around one hour per cage plus black hard anodising plus included accesories ie; HDMI clamp . Saying that i would like to price it realistically. So far i'm very exited, the Cage looks very professional. I will attach pics as soon as i finish drawings sometime next week. If all goes well we could have a batch of 25 in a 2-3 weeks.

A bit about me, I've enjoyed building film equipment as much as i have using a camera. Thus far i've build and tweaked various rigs ie; stabliser, motorised timelapse slider, follow focus rig. I've also played around with converting bolex lenses for Micro 43, some 8mm lenses do work with the GH2 EX Tele Conv Mode with great results. I started using the GF1 when the hack talks was still on another forum, and i'm now using a GH2. I am passionate about seeing professional equipment becoming more accessible for all filmakers to focus on creativity to tell their stories.

I am based near Richmond in the UK where the cage will be made.

I appreciate any input regarding this venture.

Recommendations on longer handles for a shoulder rig? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3117/recommendations-on-longer-handles-for-a-shoulder-rig Sat, 05 May 2012 18:37:16 +0000 5thwall 3117@/talks/discussions (reposted from another topic)

Anyone have any recommendations on cheap extended handles? I'm looking at these and some others, like Jag35's, but hoping to spend less. Thinking I want to get something with handles that swivel. Thx!
