I've been using the sony a6000 for awhile and one thing that has stood out to me has been highlight recovery in post. I thought this shot was completely blown until I brought it into speedgrade and pulled down the highlights.

Spanned MTS file recovery after GH2 freeze http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10705/spanned-mts-file-recovery-after-gh2-freeze- Wed, 02 Jul 2014 04:22:55 +0000 inqb8tr 10705@/talks/discussions First, I apologise for making new topic about this since I know it has been talked about over and over but I'm on tight schedule and after quick search couldn't find definite answer.

GH2 froze during long recording. Not sure for how long it remained frozen since the camera was fixed on tripod and I have been messing with sound recorder, all the time checking the red record circle on display, which was frozen, that i haven't figured out immediately. I continued filming after reinserting the battery.

Tomorrow morning, on the card I have 00-03.mts spanned files that are not recognised in Premiere as spans, but all work, and 04 is the beginning of new spanned sequence. I am missing 10 or more minutes of the show (EDIT: between that 03 and 04, to make it clearer).

Does this mean that it crashed on spanning point and that it is pointless to try with recovery software or something..

How to recover invisible lost GH2 files from power loss? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7132/how-to-recover-invisible-lost-gh2-files-from-power-loss Sat, 01 Jun 2013 16:17:45 +0000 fatpig 7132@/talks/discussions Hello guys,

I shot something today, quite a long take- and sadly the third-party battery I had to use died on me.

It was a second camera from some streetcomedy, so no reshooting there..

I did not use the card afterwards. Now the File is not on the card.

Are there any methods aside from hdd recovery tools? I tried EASEUS Data recovery Wizard, no luck.

How to upload my camera shoots successfully without formatting? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8186/how-to-upload-my-camera-shoots-successfully-without-formatting- Sat, 21 Sep 2013 21:30:17 +0000 Cory46463 8186@/talks/discussions Hi guys, Recently, I did some shoots with my Canon camera. However, as I attempted to upload all these shoots to my computer, I was always warned and asked to format it at first. I have used this camera many times and never encountered these similar problems before. Do you know what is going on there? Do you know how to upload my shoots successfully? Should I have to format this camera at first? Help me, please!

SanDisk 32GB Class 10 died without warning http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5597/sandisk-32gb-class-10-died-without-warning Thu, 27 Dec 2012 22:15:41 +0000 Meierhans 5597@/talks/discussions Before I start: The mentioned Sandisk card is known to be one of the best choices for high bitrate recording with GH2. If you are new to all of this, this post should not mislead you to buy from another vendor. Just donĀ“t. For now SanDisk SDHC Ultra 32GB Class 10 / SanDisk 64GB SDXC Extreme Pro are the two cards you want to buy. Period.

To make a sad story short: After nearly two years of recording with similar hardware (GH2 + Driftwoods latest/Flowmotion + several SanDisk SDHC Ultra 32GB Class 10 UHS-I 30MB/Sec) without any problems ever I turned on my PC the day after shot to backup data and it would not recognize the card - at all. No corrupted filesystem, no request to format it, just if as if there was nothing inserted into cardreader. Windows Drive Manager does not see any new volume when I insert card. Tried to put it back to GH2 and it keeps saying: No Memory Card.

The day before I reviewed footage for client, all was fine. Footage is quite important - could possibly shoot again but would mean a lot (!) of hassle and would loose quite some credits from client. Any kind of data recovery service will need to be payed from my own pocket as it was my cam. Worst case scenario.

What can be done? Any ideas?

Recover files from card with error http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3537/recover-files-from-card-with-error Sun, 10 Jun 2012 22:15:49 +0000 charlie_orozco 3537@/talks/discussions Hi. I come to you to ask for help, because I feel very frustrated. I have two Sandisk Extreme 32GB 45MBps SDHC cards, and today I was trying to copy the video files of a shoot I had yesterday, and the card started disconnecting quite often (it was plugged into an external card reader). With various retryings I was able to copy only 6 out of 25 (11GB in total) before the card threw me an error message saying that the card needed formatting. I then got tired and decided to copy the files using the camera, but when I turned it on it told me that the camera needed formatting as well. This never happened to me. I became a little desperate and downloaded the program that the card comes from (it's a one year license code that allows you to download and use RescuePRO Deluxe). I used the program and it recoverd 15,000 M2TS video files, all of them a single frame for only the first two videos (or so it seemed) that weighed almost 30GB. I then formatted the card using the camera and tried again. I formatted many times (it's been 4 or 5 hours now) and the best I could get were the full first two videos, almost by chance, and the ones that matter are the 3 last ones... Now the program shows an error saying that it couldn't recover any files because maybe the formatting added 0 (zeros) instead of the old data, and so it may be lost. But when I try again it recovers more files. Although now they can't be read. Is it getting worse eveytime? Is there no way to recover the files? Can you recommend another program that could work for me? I need this data by the end of the week when the job is due, and I feel desperate. It's kind of a documentary, so I can't shoot this footage for a second time... If you can help me I'll be truly thankful. Best regards.

Recovering DEAD Third-Party GH2 Battery! http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1399/recovering-dead-third-party-gh2-battery Wed, 09 Nov 2011 14:24:35 +0000 fatpig 1399@/talks/discussions
I just wanted to share this:
I got a 1400mah third party gh2 battery off ebay, worked fine but then after an long shoot, eventually died, which is perfectly normal.
Often these batteries dont recharge. so they have to be replaced and are essentially worthless.

I discovered, that these batteries CAN be recharged, but not with the original charger, but with a third-party charger (just take a cheap gh2 charger off ebay) - i suggest this works because they are missing the third connector pin, and this would be some kind of control connector.

PS: If connected to the third party charger for about one second, the official charger also charges the battery again. It's about getting that little bit of power in there, for the original one to charge again. Now i have three working batteries. Yay!]]>
