I thought I'd start a thread about the monitoring headphones. I need ones that I can plug into my Zoom H1. Which ones are good value for the money? I would love to buy SONY MDR-7506, but those cost £105 (the real ones, not Chinese counterfeit). So which headphones would you recommend for sound monitoring for no-budget kind of film-making?

Must be cheap, but relatively good quality, like those cheap Chinese mics.

Any advice?

HDMI Lock Solutions with/without cages http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/17463/hdmi-lock-solutions-withwithout-cages- Sat, 05 Aug 2017 14:25:01 +0000 Orkan 17463@/talks/discussions Hi, I am going to use this solution in order have some sort of audio monitoring for my G85.
But as the micro HDMI port on the G85 (Sony Alpha 6500 and many other cams have the same issue I tihnk) is not locking nor looking very strong I am looking for a simple/leightweight solution. I have already tried the Smallrig cage w HDMI lock, but it seems like adding up too much bulk and makes handholding the camera unpleasent due to the metal finish. There maybe some other solutions which would protect the port in a handheld documentary situation, some space to fix the new sound devices would be really nice of course :) Lockport is a nice solution but not available for the models. Any ideas?

Zoom H1 - Juicedlink CX231 - NTG2 http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13966/zoom-h1-juicedlink-cx231-ntg2 Tue, 20 Oct 2015 09:03:18 +0000 Matthijs 13966@/talks/discussions So I'm thinking about this setup since I've come across the JL preamp as a bargain. Yet I'm quite a beginner as it comes to sound.

The Juicedlink doesn't have headphones input. However, the Zoom H1 does. Can I monitor the sound via the Zoom then? And in which way will this be a reliable headphone output volume? Do I need special cables? Or ways to set the Juicedlink pre-amp?

Help will be appreciated

Matt

GH2 to Macbook for live monitoring - wired options? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7209/gh2-to-macbook-for-live-monitoring-wired-options Mon, 10 Jun 2013 11:11:04 +0000 Social 7209@/talks/discussions Hi all,

I've been looking around for info on how to use my new 2013 macbook pro to show live video primarily, and images if possible, that are being recorded/photographed live from my GH2... essentially using my Macbook as a monitor.

There is a thread on PV that is a couple of years old which I have posted to, but through I'd open this up as a new topic as well, as I'm sure there are people out there in GH2 land who could do with this info as well. Here's a link to the original topic: http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1207/gh2-live-streaming-solutions/p1

I'm hoping that in the 2 years since the original thread, the tech options have moved on. My macbook has thunderbolt, which, from experience connecting macbook to tv, works well with hdmi, and as thunderbolt connectivity can be used to transfer data from a hard drive back and forth, it must be a 2 way connection, so theoretically should allow for possible hdmi data being inputed to my mac.

I am relatively new to this and am trying to gather information, as this forum has been so informative in the past, I wanted to ask you guys what you would do in my situation? I would appreciate cheaper options if possible, primarily wired options as from scouring the web, there are issues with data signal interruptions and signal distance on wireless options.... plus wired is, I expect, considerably cheaper!

Can you help?

Thanks, Rob

Gh1 External Monitoring http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4162/gh1-external-monitoring Mon, 06 Aug 2012 10:24:58 +0000 010101 4162@/talks/discussions I remember sometimes ago Vitaliy was working on live monitoring out of HDMI of GH1. Did a search in PV for the subject to no avail ! Setting a GH1 on a Jib for a couple of shots and we need to monitor the framing on that GH1. Any help will be appreciated.

GH2 HDMI Monitoring http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3269/gh2-hdmi-monitoring Sat, 19 May 2012 11:02:29 +0000 iamfoxman 3269@/talks/discussions So I'm trying to figure out why my hacked GH2 (basic hack with just the bit rate pushed to 42/35), seems to monitor perfectly via the HDMI cable during pause & recording. The issue I'm having is when I go to look back at the scene, I don't have playback control from my camera and thus can't look back at what was just shot without disconnecting the HDMI cable.

Does anyone know the fix for this?

Thanks
