What the best minolta 50mm lens ever? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/18971/what-the-best-minolta-50mm-lens-ever Fri, 09 Feb 2018 13:17:51 +0000 Turba 18971@/talks/discussions Here the answer :D.

Firstly, the latest and the better generation of fifties - Minolta MD. Not a Rokkor - it should be plain MD, aka Minolta New MD, Minolta MD III etc.

Secondary, 5 lenses detailed reviewed in this line:

Minolta MD 50mm F1.2

Minolta MD 50mm F1.4

Minolta MD 50mm F1.7

Minolta MD 50mm F2.0

Minolta MD 50mm F3.5 MACRO - still hasn't special review

Finally: All Minolta MD 50mm lenses comparison

And one more: Minolta MC 58mm F1.2 bokeh legend vs. underrated fresh blood Minolta MD 50mm F1.2

Is the MINOLTA MD 28mm f3.5 a bad lens? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12402/is-the-minolta-md-28mm-f3.5-a-bad-lens Tue, 17 Feb 2015 00:52:59 +0000 danny832 12402@/talks/discussions Hi everyone, recently bought a Panasonic GH2 for a great price and wanted to try out some vintage lenses with it for video. Was scrolling through eBay late the other night and purchased a hardly used Minolta MD 28mm f3.5 lens in excellent condition THINKING it was a f2.8!! (Will teach me to read things properly in future) ... anyway it only cost around £30 with postage and it should be here in a few days, but just wanted to find out a few opinions on this version because i couldn't find much information on it.

Ive done quite a bit of research on the f2.8 version and really like some of the images it produces on the GH2, will this f3.5 version be considerably bad compared?

The few posts I've found online have said its nowhere near as good as the f2.8 and on this lens survey site: http://www.photozone.de/active/survey/querylenstxt.jsp?filter=%22brand='Minolta%20MD'%22 it shows quite low ratings compared to the f2.8 model and mentions a 'slightly warm' colour balance.

Just wondering if anyone has had personal experience with this lens and if its worth selling it on and getting the 2.8 instead? (they are practically the same price on UK eBay for both versions) or just sticking with it?

I guess il just test it out myself when it arrives and find out... but would like to get a few opinions on this lens before it does, If anyone has any. I've had no experience with minolta lenses Id just seen the video samples people was getting from the same setup as id ordered and researched the 28mm f2.8 only.

Also as a last thing if it helps: The lens is the last MD version produced by Minolta (quite sure anyway, might be wrong!) and has no 'W.Rokkor' stamped on the front like a lot of them do, not sure if that makes a difference. Here are some images of the exact lens I've ordered: http://addieleman.smugmug.com/Lenses/Minolta/MD-28mm-135/i-K4nT78V

If anyone can share any info id be very grateful!

FEEDBACK ASKED: Working as a camerawoman and editor on music videos http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11911/feedback-asked-working-as-a-camerawoman-and-editor-on-music-videos Sat, 06 Dec 2014 17:40:12 +0000 dlzn 11911@/talks/discussions I'm currently working as a videographer for like 10 months right now. Mostly 'specialized' in doing guerrilla style music videos. My goal is to achieve the high budget look, with the low budget costs (don't we all).

Gear used on both videos:

  • Panasonic GH2 cam with flowmotion hack
  • Two Minolta MD lenses, 28mm F1.8 and 50mm F.17
  • Sigma 19mm F2.8
  • Mostly shot with: a rig, tripod, table slider and handheld

My goal is to eventually work more with commercial artists and especially to learn as much as possible about cinematography and cinematic aspects used in music videos.

Would love to receive some feedback on both videos!

Cheers,

D

m43 to MD lens adapter problems? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11832/m43-to-md-lens-adapter-problems Sun, 23 Nov 2014 16:01:10 +0000 einstein7 11832@/talks/discussions Just wondering if anyone can give some insight as to why a Minolta md lens adapted to the RJ speedbooster for the bmpcc with a dumb adaptor ring doesn't work? The flange distance is correct because i have a md-m43 dumb adaptor and the total flange distance is the same. My md lenses work fine so after getting the RJ speedbooster .71x I then got a dumb md-eos adapter ring thinking it would work fine and nada.. lens is focusing past the sensor? They make a md-eos adaptor with glass but not sure why that would be necessary when md's work fine on m43 with no glass and no focal reducer.

Music Video GH2: Creating a vintage look http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9790/music-video-gh2-creating-a-vintage-look- Tue, 04 Mar 2014 16:16:27 +0000 dlzn 9790@/talks/discussions I came up with a concept about a midget traveling around the city, kind of like Alice In Wonderland. Video shot - hand held - and edited by me. Using Panasonic GH2 and just Minolta MD 50mm F1.7. A few close-ups were done with the Sigma 19mm F2.8. Hack Flowmotion 2.

Cheers, D.

Possible to correct the fisheye distortion in a video? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5215/possible-to-correct-the-fisheye-distortion-in-a-video Fri, 16 Nov 2012 09:45:57 +0000 gameb 5215@/talks/discussions Its quite easy to correct the distortion on a photo in photoshop etc. But I couldn't find anything about correction in a video. In order to get an old school wideangle lens, I was wondering if the Minolta MD 16mm 2.8 was a good choice - having a lot of distortion.. anybody has experiences with this issue?
