An exceptional price/quality ratio PC screen!

4 important specifications cached my attention:

  • IPS screen with wide viewing angle
  • 100% sRGB color gamut spectrum coverage
  • Flicker free
  • Blue light filter

Out of the box the screen came well calibrated, with a small Delta-E variation of color. After a manual calibration, it approaches perfection (except for the typical brighter black of IPS screens).

The "Flicker Free" and "Blue Light Filter" functions are very important for the eyes, especially for long working periods of time in front of the computer. I did not encounter problems related to ghosting or clouding, the image uniformity of my sample being impeccable. It doesn’t make much sense to comment much about IPS technology, whoever is interested in image editing, knows why to choose an IPS screen in favor of other technologies on the market.

The screen is elegant, with thin edges on the side and top and the construction is made of good quality plastic. The foot is made of metal and offers an inclination from -5 to 20 degrees.

In conclusion, for my needs (image editing) it’s an excellent screen at a very decent price. I recommend it with confidence!

Any option to the rotolight Neo2? Any other flash work in HSS? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/20997/any-option-to-the-rotolight-neo2-any-other-flash-work-in-hss Tue, 27 Nov 2018 09:20:53 +0000 Manu4Vendetta 20997@/talks/discussions I have seen many tests of photos and videos made with this light and I like the result, Its awesome. Works as a continuous light for video/cine and as a flash.

The only thing negative is the price, isnt cheap, but its price is not bad either, the other problem is that the transmitter costs almost 80% than the Neo2 costs: Neo2 U$325-400, transmitter HSS U$250, total U$ 550-625 too much.

I'm not sure if any other transmitter will allow synchronization in flash mode for high speed, at that point one could save money because the price of the transmitter is very very very excessive.

The othe question is if there a similar light with good CRI, portable what dont need electrical connection and at the same time be a flash and continuous light. The only thing I know so efficient but only as a high power flash and portability is the Godox AD200.

5 or 6 foot light strip http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/17739/5-or-6-foot-light-strip Tue, 12 Sep 2017 18:12:01 +0000 webarchitect 17739@/talks/discussions I need a five or six foot LED strip light suitable for video and photography. Mostly product related work. For DOF purposes, I'd like to be able to get f11 as an exposure at ISO 800 or lower. Light quality matters, so cheap Home Depot strips don't seem highly likely for this task. I'll mix with some other studio lights I have yet to purchase. I'm open to some DIY so long as it's not super involved or some crazy amount of effort (subjective, I know). Ideas?

Fluorescent tubes as practicals? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12796/fluorescent-tubes-as-practicals Mon, 13 Apr 2015 12:49:19 +0000 Psyco 12796@/talks/discussions Hi, I want to use practicals in a class room. There are normal fluorescents tubes mounted to the ceiling, which can easily be replaced. But the room is also flooded with daylight through windows (which will be "dimmed" by using ND gels). I want a good colour match between the tube-light and the daylight from the windows.

Would this tubes do the trick:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/10x-Philips-Leuchtstoffrohre-MASTER-TL-D-De-Luxe-T8-965-Tageslicht-58W-/400751514576 (6500K, RA 93)

Or do I have to use the more expensive ones:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/10x-Philips-Leuchtstoffrohre-MASTER-TL-D-Graphica-T8-965-Tageslicht-58W-/400751546950 (6500K, RA 98)

I think 50Hz flickering is not much of a problem, as there is no fast motion in the scenes and I can adjust the shutter speed as needed (using a BMPCC at 24 fps).

Any input about using fluorescent tubes are welcome:-)

It came up cheap on e-bay then disappeared, I tracked down a UK supplier that apparently had a six week wait. It arrived in four days!

I've been having a idea about an interface's POV, in that you see characters from behind the interface, so that formed the based of this test:

It took more time to set up than shoot (about 2 hours). In this test the Ring Light is set to 50% brightness and the white balance is set at 5600K. I believe its going to be a pretty useful addition to my lighting and the only downside it that I can't find a suitable soft bag to protect it in transit.

The music was assembled from kits from Big Fish Audio.

highest possible careful tweaked settings for very high image quality with enough stability for short takes up to 5 - 8 minutes.

Improved for best low light noise and textures in all modes, perfect for high iso, and excelent image texture in good light.

Arri Alexa image quality inside the GH2, (just missing the Alexa dynamic range of course)

default version:

*SH and H slots are better for good light in low iso and for more detailed scenes in good light

*SH slot is higher quality and more stable with manual focus legacy lenses

*H slot more stable with native lenses with electronic contacts

*H slot also better for use with image stabilization

*hbr is better in good light than in low light

*default version is more stable in SH and H 720p and in HBR than the boson version

*24p 24H and 24L are the same of boson

*great quality in all modes

boson version:

*SH slot improved for low light textures and noise

*H slot better for good light in low iso, better for more complex details scenes in good light

*H slot is more stable for native lenses

*HBR does the low light / good light balance automaticaly for better noise in low light or better detail in good light

*24p has same noise quality in both good light or low light for constant image texture this keeps same random noise in all light conditions, good for intercut with SH

*a little less stable in 720p and HBR than the default version

*best quality in all modes

seta = workhorse default

setb = workhorse boson

setc = workhorse default lower datarate in SH and H for more stability in 720p and hbr

setd = workhorse boson lower datarate in SH and H for more stability in 720p and hbr

sete = same as seta, but the 24H and 24L are optimized to deliver sharpest image for steady complex detail scenes, it does the automatic adaptation in 24p for low light noise or good light steady complex detail scenes

setf = same as setc, but the 24H and 24L are optimized to deliver sharpest image for steady complex detail scenes, it does the automatic adaptation in 24p for low light noise or good light steady complex detail scenes

720p 60p GH2 hack: an attempt to improve the quality, stability and reliability. http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10650/720p-60p-gh2-hack-an-attempt-to-improve-the-quality-stability-and-reliability. Sat, 21 Jun 2014 17:03:43 +0000 apefos 10650@/talks/discussions I am trying to improve the quality of 720p 60p in GH2.

I did some research in the forum about PTools settings but I did not find the answers I need...

What happens is:

Only GOP which works good for 720p 60p are GOP 30 and GOP 3, all other GOP gives diagonal pattern (rain) in computer monitor. But the GOP 3 in 720p always stops recording and it seems the card is not the problem, I am using Sandisk 45mbps and other people says the Sandisk 95mbps also stops recording in 720p hacks... The GOP 6, 12 and 15 works for some shoots, but they are unstable (sometimes stops recording) and gives diagonal pattern (rain) in computer monitor. GOP 3 stops recording all the time, no matter the bitrate (I tested GOP 3 from 40 to 200mbps). So GOP 30 is the only option.

Problem is: when using the GOP 30 the camera encoder always keeps the bitrate very low when the camera is quiet, when there is no motion in the image, and this gives lots of macroblocking and texture lost in low light. Even when I set the bitrate to 48mbps or 64mbps in PTools the camera does not record 48mbps or 64mbps, StreamParser shows only around 23mbps... (for static low light shoots)

The auto quantizer all to motion or all to details did not make any difference. So I did some try to change settings in TESTER options of PTools. I fount the TOP and BOTTOM bitrate limits and I enabled it with 48000 and 42000 for top and bottom 720p, but this makes no effects in encoding, bitrate is still very low for static shots no matter the bitrate I type in PTools...

Only thing I found to make the bitrate encoding keep high is the GOP 3, but camera stops recording in all 720p shoots, the GOP 3 just works for 1080p.

So I am wondering if there is a way to keep the bitrate high using GOP 30 in 720p...

Any suggestion welcome, thanks.
