There are normal fluorescents tubes mounted to the ceiling, which can easily be replaced. But the room is also flooded with daylight through windows (which will be "dimmed" by using ND gels). I want a good colour match between the tube-light and the daylight from the windows.

Would this tubes do the trick:

Or do I have to use the more expensive ones:

I think 50Hz flickering is not much of a problem, as there is no fast motion in the scenes and I can adjust the shutter speed as needed (using a BMPCC at 24 fps).

Any input about using fluorescent tubes are welcome:-)

Flicker free fluorescent http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6810/flicker-free-fluorescent Fri, 26 Apr 2013 04:18:26 +0000 omnidecay 6810@/talks/discussions I am picking up a few par64s to play with and I am looking for some good flicker free fluorescent CRI 93+ bulbs to go in them (both spot and flood). I usually stick to tungsten as much as I can but wanted to branch out and play with something different. So my plan is to turn off all the lights in my living room and re-light using a more cinematic style (maybe turn it into a weekend short). Its really just an exercise/learning experience. I have a gh2 that seems to hate fluorescents in the past and flickers but everyone talks about the colors you can get from them if you can pull something off. Is it possible to even film using the gh2 with fluorescents? I would like both 24p and slomo to be flicker free.

My lighting style is a bunch of little lights vs floods of light and the room itself is a kitchen/living room about 600 sq/ft. I do have one sliding glass door but it doesn't get a lot of light. I will be test lighting both day and night. Thanks for all opinions and recommendations!

Also, just so everyone knows. Setting your shutter speed to 1/50 or 1/60 does not fix this problem. It may reduce it but it has been my experience that it does not.

Camtree Beam Lite DIMMABLE? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5214/camtree-beam-lite-dimmable Fri, 16 Nov 2012 05:18:35 +0000 katig 5214@/talks/discussions Anybody has some experience with this light? Dimmable ballast, Philips tubes... I never bought anything manufactured in India, can I expect any major quality issues? Price seems very good.

Best Softbox Lighting Solution? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3288/best-softbox-lighting-solution Mon, 21 May 2012 09:08:52 +0000 civopo 3288@/talks/discussions Hi,

I am currently searching for an affordable lighting set-up as I'm going to do more interview stuff etc. in future.

The only thing I am sure about is that i want softboxes as light-modifiers, but what kind of light sources should I use? There are so much options. Halogen - Fluorescent - HMI - LED... As far as I am concerned, LED is the new trend in terms of lighting, but whats the reason for? Low energy, portable? Do I need a softbox in use with a LED for example?

I have a budget of approximately 100-350USD.

As a hair light, i'm going to use a 150w or 300w PRO As ARRI Fresnel. (http://www.ebay.de/itm/As-ARRI-Economical-300W-studio-lighting-Fresnel-Tungsten-Light-300-watts-bulb-/221022906307?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3375fde7c3#ht_3350wt_1398)

Thanks a lot!
