But for sure the Panasonic engeneers are alreday working on the GH6. For Panasonic claims and has prooven, that they listen to the customers, let us tell them early in the process of the development, what features we would like to see in the GH6, that can not be implemented in the GH5 through firmware update.

Let me start with a wish for a 2nd screen:

I think it is great to have the controls like waveform, histogram, sound etc. to have all the settings in sight, but as we all know, they take up a lot of space and cover up the video picture on the screen.

So my idea is, to have a second screen on the body where the screen normally rests. So that, when the normal, video screen, is flipped in, they face each other.

I would call it a "service screen", where you can have and see all the helping tools without covering the screen with the picture. All other settings like aputure, ss, ISO etc could also be shown and maybe one can also change the settings of the camera on that screeen. As you like. One should be able to assign, what you want to see on that screen.

I would make it a touch screen as well, so that the camera would have a double touch-screen, so the you can move things to the video screen if you need it, for example when you do overhead work and can not see the service screen but need the wave or sound controls. Once you are back in normal use, you can push them out of the way to the service screen again. If you do not need it, you could switch it off to save battery.

Nowadays, screens are so thin, that I doubt that it would make the camera bigger.

I think this would be a great help to have all the controls in sight, without them covering the main video screen.

Also, NO other Mirrorless or DSLR camera has that feature which would really give Panasonic another advantage over his competitors.

One could also think about transmitting the information of the service screen maybe via bluetooth to a mobile device, so one can have it in sight if a look on the camera is difficult or a 2nd person can have a look or even adjust the settings, while the camera man takes care of the framing.

What do you think about this? Would that make sense and help?

HKC B6000/B7000 - 25inch/27inch 2k IPS Monitor - $340 http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/18556/hkc-b6000b7000-25inch27inch-2k-ips-monitor-340 Fri, 22 Dec 2017 12:21:13 +0000 shoe_e 18556@/talks/discussions enter image description here So normally I'm pretty selfish about these things. If I find something super awesome floating out among the interwebs, I tend to keep them to myself until I've made sure I've had my fill. Having said that, I actually bit the bullet (since I already had 2 very solid ips panels, 1 decent ultrawide ips, and one super cheap ips panel), and bought myself the 25" B6000. If you can find the B7000 in stock somewhere, good for you. I'm always searching for stuff, so I always find all this random stuff on places like Gearbest, or Lightinthebox, or Banggood. Most of it is untested and have little to no reviews, but for certain things I'm willing to be the guinea pig. In the case of the HKC B6000, the sleekness and alleged specs seemed way too awesome for the price. enter image description here

After some painstaking Google Translate and tons of research, I managed to find some fantastic reviews of the monitor. They were all in a foreign language (which to me is pretty much anything that isn't English), but after translating the pages made me believe that this may actually be a fantastic purchase. Yes you can find 2k ips monitors for cheaper than this, but not sleeker. This is actually a giant chunk of metal. I've had the monitor for about 3 weeks now and my un-technical review is the following: I definitely plan on picking up a spydercolor elite or something to calibrate the monitor. That being said, according to the specs page and many reviews (which I'll post below this blurb), this is a 10bit monitor with 99% Adobe RGB. From what I've seen, the display is amazing and the color is fantastic, but at the same time since I haven't calibrated my monitors, I'm not sure which colors are off. Once I do that, I'll have a better review. In terms of bezel, this thing actually has picture-accurate thin bezel. I thought the bezel on the Viewsonic VX2370SMH was very good, but this is much thinner. As I mentioned before, this is one seamless piece of metal, so it is not a light monitor in any fashion. It also tends to run hotter than monitors in plastic housings, but I haven't run into any overheating issues yet and I don't think it's an issue. The menu does come in Chinese, I believe. No disrespect, I just don't know the differences between those languages and I don't mean to insult anyone with my ignorance on the topic. You can change the language to English. If I missed anything, please feel free to comment and I'll try to respond in a reasonable time. In the meantime, enjoy these reviews and images. Most of these contain detailed color analysis of the monitors. Again, none of these reviews are in English, so translate if necessary.

How to setup Dell U2410 wide gamut monitor for color grading in CS6 and Resolve? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6793/how-to-setup-dell-u2410-wide-gamut-monitor-for-color-grading-in-cs6-and-resolve Wed, 24 Apr 2013 04:57:21 +0000 inqb8tr 6793@/talks/discussions As my main monitor I use Dell U2410 connected via DVI to a hackintosh OSX ML. Since Premiere CS6 is not color managed as far as I know, I usually switch to sRGB profile of the monitor to get normal color saturation. It is a simulation of sRGB color space, but it is somehow "mushy". If I leave it at AdobeRGB preset mode that I use for everything else, colors of the video are over saturated, like any other non managed srgb content on a wide gamut monitor.

I need some advice here, can I somehow adapt my workflow to stay in AdobeRGB profile of the Dell monitor, and to have an accurate representation of colors in my editing and grading software (resolve)?

I don't have an external grading monitor, nor I plan to get one anytime soon. I don't need absolute accuracy here, only some decent reference point.

GH2 display cable repair http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15158/gh2-display-cable-repair Wed, 01 Jun 2016 15:53:49 +0000 mk47 15158@/talks/discussions Not sure where i should post this, but here goes:

The display on my GH2 is dying. The problem is most likely in the flat cable that goes through the rotating hinge. First the image wouldn't rotate when i flipped it all the way, now it just dies if i open the display too much.

Did anyone face similar problems? The camera was used quite a lot over the last 4 years, probably like 2-3 times a week for a few hours a day.

I was looking at the replacement parts, and the cable with the hinge costs around 60€ (ebay, ali) which i think is too much for a camera that is worth about 200-300€.

Is anyone aware of some other alternative? If someone owns a broken GH2 i would be willing to make a deal for that part, or the whole cam. :)

Thanks!

GH4 diplay zoom for vignetting lenses http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14720/gh4-diplay-zoom-for-vignetting-lenses Sat, 05 Mar 2016 17:37:37 +0000 bambolero 14720@/talks/discussions Hi guys, do you think it could be possible to have a function that allows to zoom (in percentage) the GH4 display to use vignetting lenses and be able to see the usable framing? Like a hack or a firmware update? Sometimes if you use a 16mm cine lens there is a vignette but if you crop 10% for example the image is great. The framing is not easy though if you have to think about it in your head without a precise displayed image. Would'nt it be agreat thing for a new firmware version or a hack?

Trying to change a few GH4 settings. Need some help http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11432/trying-to-change-a-few-gh4-settings.-need-some-help Mon, 29 Sep 2014 06:15:37 +0000 nosignal 11432@/talks/discussions I've had my GH4 for about a month now and I'm loving it overall, but I've noticed a few things I would like to change, if possible. I've not been very lucky in getting these things changed though.

I'll Include pictures of each item.

  1. There is some sort of square in the middle of the screen. I believe it has to do with the focus assisting. Is there a way to get rid of this square? I understand it's purpose, but I think it gets in my way, especially with the touch screen becuse it can move.

  2. The AF box in the lower right hand corner. Again, I understand why it's there and what it does. But I don't always want that option available. It's just taking up real estate on my display.

  3. My guides and info dissapear from the display after 1 minute of sitting. Is there any way to keep them displayed?

  4. (no picutre included) This is one I've kind of grown to enjoy, but is there any way to remove the side quick menu from the display?

I'd appreciate any help! Thanks!

Idea of a new design for viewfinders/displayloupes... opinions? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8842/idea-of-a-new-design-for-viewfindersdisplayloupes...-opinions Thu, 21 Nov 2013 04:51:16 +0000 Illusionist_Films 8842@/talks/discussions What I've ever really been missing in present cameras is a proper viewfinder: I'm talking about the sort of angled viewfinder cameras like Aaton XTR or Arri Alexa are equipped with, where you're able to have the camera on one of your sides when looking through. The only thing nowadays digital cameras are most probably equipped with is a display. I know there are a lot of solutions like display loupes or EVF's, but I don't think any of them being comfortable. I don't like the idea of adding more bulk to the camera with an EVF, as you're not solely adding the EVF but also a proper mounting solution, powering and have the hdmi/sdi cables hanging around (not to mention that good EVF's are pretty expensive and most people already use a monitor which adds enough bulk and cables etc..). So go to the display loupe way? Well, I think most display loupes available are absolutely unflexible as you've to position the camera right in front of your eyes. That's neither convenient nor always possible, depending on tripod, rig or other accessories. The only design I liked was that of the Varavon Loupe EX for GH1/2 (even though i never owned one) as it used the flexibility of the flip- and rotateable display. But again the mobility of the viewfinder depended on the display. So what about cameras with a fixed display like BMPCC? I've come up with the idea for a fully rotateable display loupe using mirrors or prisms inside to work like a kind of magnificating periscope. As I don't have the manual abilities nor the knowledge to built something like this I thought I'd share my thoughts here. I've attached a rough schematic diagramm to visualize it. I know the market for this would be marginal but do you believe this to be useful? Probably theres something similar to this already existing and I just don't know it? I'd like to hear some opinions, suggestions... if someone has the mechanical skills to built this or wants to refine/improve the idea... feel free to do it ;)

Best way to make 2,35:1 markings on display? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4446/best-way-to-make-2351-markings-on-display Sat, 01 Sep 2012 12:55:04 +0000 fatpig 4446@/talks/discussions Hi Guys,

I was just wondering which methods some of you may have to make markings on your display (or even external monitor) for guidance for framing cinema aspect ratio?

The Guide lines sadly can not have two horizontal bars as far as i know of.. I was hoping the hack would introduce some type of marking somewhere down the line- but since that does not seem to be possible, lets hear your method :)

Thanks guys

LG AH-IPS 4.5-inch 1280×720 display http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/791/lg-ah-ips-4.5-inch-1280720-display- Sat, 27 Aug 2011 21:45:20 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 791@/talks/discussions LG’s Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching (IPS) LCD display could be powering the next generation of “superphones” from a number of handset makers. LG has recently received props about its color accuracy from Intertek, a company that specializes in certifying the quality of various technologies and products.

I’m not familiar with Intertek’s tests, but according to LG, their conclusion pretty much says what we already knew: just like IPS, AH-IPS, has a better color accuracy than its arch-rival AMOLED, which is a Samsung technology.LG will also be quick to point out that IPS consumes the same power regardless of whether or not, it is displaying a bright or dark image. AMOLED power consumption fluctuates depending of the nature of the content, but LG’s point was that in the worst case scenario, AH-IPS still beats AMOLED in power consumption. Although we have not run these tests ourselves, I’ve brought this up a few times with Samsung, and no-one has ever contested LG’s claim.
