Selling for $1850 includes shipping to CONUS and Paypal fees.

So it has been cleaned. Both the spherical lens and anamorphic lens. Focus is smooth and aperture is easily turned as these have been just serviced.

The attachment between the spherical lens and the anamorphic front has been custom made so that the aperture and focus marks will always be clearly seen on the top. This has been collimated to ensure maximum sharpness at wide apertures. Even at f2.8 image is very good. Attachment between the lenses has been customized so that the anamorphic lens will never fall off even if you just hold the spherical lens.

Has a few minor issues that do NOT affect image quality: 1. Has tiny scratches on spherical lens. 2. Coating on anamorphic front is a bit worn off. 3. It appears that a previous owner had seen fungus on the lens and cleaned it out but there are very light marks the fungus left on the lens.

Pics of all the minor issues/lens can be seen here:

FS: Isco Gottingen Anamorphotic 2x Focus with your lens only! http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4212/fs-isco-gottingen-anamorphotic-2x-focus-with-your-lens-only Sat, 11 Aug 2012 14:38:05 +0000 sicovdplas 4212@/talks/discussions FS: a special gem, it's a huge one tho ;)

Isco Gottingen Anamorphotic 2x (2.55 or 2.35 aspect ratio) This version does not have a focus ring, which means you will be able to focus with your prime (you will need diopters for close focus)

The best thing is ofcourse that you'll be able to focus with your prime lens, and not both of the lenses, altho its huge, you will need a good adapter, rear diameter is 72mm. This one is very sharp, and has nice contrasts and flares ofcourse ;)

Tested with 50mm and 40mm primes, 28mm works but with vignetting. In mint condition, Asking price 400 $ USD excl. Shipping, accepting offers!

Question about Kowa 16-D Bell & Howell Anamorphic http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5451/question-about-kowa-16-d-bell-howell-anamorphic Tue, 11 Dec 2012 09:00:35 +0000 Reinout 5451@/talks/discussions Hi guys, Question; I've owned a Bell 'n Howell anamorphic adapter for quite some time now and used it in several occasions. I bought a Helios 44-2 lens to carry it on my GH2. Overall results have been pretty good, though not amazing. Recently I've started wondering if the lack of sharpness and vignetting that bothers me in some situations, is more the fault of the Helios lens, than my anamorphic, as it looks pretty worn, with oil on the blades etc.

This made me wonder what other type of taking-lens would be an option for my anamorphic adapter. As I read in Andrew Reid's anamorphic guide, my Kowa should cover a 35mm lens on a GH2, So my eyes fell on the inexpensive Slrmagic 35mm F 1.7

Has anyone had any experience with adapting an anamorphic onto the Slrmagic lens? Or in general using a 35mm lens for a Kowa-type adapter?

Thanks!

Two Fingers - Smurf (Anamorphic Music Video) http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5069/two-fingers-smurf-anamorphic-music-video Thu, 01 Nov 2012 19:55:17 +0000 Oedipax 5069@/talks/discussions

Here's a music video I shot recently with my friends. We've been working with Atlanta rapper Bre Fontaine for a while, and recently he was given a guest spot on Amon Tobin's new Two Fingers side project, which in turn gave us a chance to shoot a higher profile video than we have in the past.

I shot with the GH2 using my Kowa 16-D (I have the 16-H as well, but went with the lighter-weight D for this project) and Driftwood's Sedna 'A' AQ1 patch (Smooth -2 everything). The taking lens was an old Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AI. Redstan's anamorphic clamps (for orienting the lens and for mounting filters) rounded out the setup, plus a set of diopters (the +0.5 Redstan sells plus some lower quality +1 and +2's).

Graded with FilmConvert and a touch of adjustment layer curves in After Effects - mostly because I only had a couple days after editing and vfx were done to do the grade before we had to push it out. But I'm happy with the look overall. As a cinematographer it does pain me that the song is so short, because we had a lot of great looking stuff that you only see glimpses of in the video!

I'm linking the YouTube version up above because the streaming 1080p version looks better, but you can also check it out on Vimeo (vimeo.com/52431231) and download the original upload for a few more days.

Hope you guys dig it, it was fun to finally do a real project on anamorphic.

Anamorphics For Sale - Sunday Only - Cheap! http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3963/anamorphics-for-sale-sunday-only-cheap Wed, 18 Jul 2012 19:11:13 +0000 BobbyMcDonald 3963@/talks/discussions I could really use some quick cash for an upcoming trip, so these two adapters are heavily discounted, only $199 each.

1) Sankor Compact Anamorphic - A 2x lens, focus scale marked 5' to Infinity with about 270 degree rotation. Glass is pristine, body is in great shape minus a scratch in the paint, mechanics seem in good order, though there is a small bump when you first start rotating the focus ring, like a hiccup... pretty small, but still there, could just be a loose screw or something. Will likely need a clamp to mount, unless you feel like drilling holes through the overhang of the lens barrel. Asking $199 + shipping.

2) Delft (Delrama) Vistascope - A 1.5X focus through comprised of a pair of mirrored prisms. They were tarnished, so I just had them sent off and re-silvered, should now be a factory fresh image. This is the rarer and easier to work with 16mm version (Marked "16mm f=600cm"). Body is in decent shape for a lens of it's age, there's definitely some paint wear and scratches. Glass is clean and clear. Comes with a series VI to 49mm step up ring as well as a 49-52mm step up ring. Only one caveat, at the moment I can't find the four screws to reassemble the body. Shouldn't be hard taking it to any hardware or camera repair shop to find the match, but I probably won't get to it for awhile, so I'm dropping the price $50 to compensate. Asking $199 + shipping.

Iscomorphot 16 mm HELP http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4304/iscomorphot-16-mm-help Mon, 20 Aug 2012 10:28:59 +0000 mlysbakken 4304@/talks/discussions Hi! I just received my new Iscomorphot 16 mm 2x, which I recently won in an auction on ebay. I haven't received my lens clamp yet, so I haven't gotten to thoroughly test it, but by simply aiming my taking lens through the anamorphic it becomes clear that its focus ring has no immediately recognisable effect. I believe common practice is to set the taking lens to infinity and rack focus with the anamorphic, but the only option I seem to have here is to rack focus with the taking lens and just leave the anamorphic be (which did seem to work allright in my initial test, but I can't be sure). Since I can't test this out thoroughly without a clamp, I'd be happy if someone could jump in with some insight! Is this common for this particular lens, or have I wasted my money here?

Thanks!

Here's a breakdown: First shot, done with HBR mode and Lomo OCT-19 primes 0:26 Driftwood GOP-3 with Nikon AI primes

0:37 HBR with Lomos

0:48 Cbrandin 66mbit with Lomos

0:56 HBR with Lomos

01:55 Driftwood GOP-3 with Nikon AIs

02:04 HBR with Lomos

02:14 HBR with Lomos

(sorry for the double spacing, but otherwise it would all just fall behind each other)

This really shows what an amazing camera the GH2 is! Even unhacked it looks amazing (I think what I got with HBR looks the best to me, but that has more to with my work).

There's also some anamorphic stuff in there, done with my generic anamorphic on an AF100 with a Nikon AI 35mm (third shot, you'll recognize the rest)

Century Optics 1.33x with GH2+14/2.5 thoughts. http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1447/century-optics-1.33x-with-gh2-142.5-thoughts. Mon, 14 Nov 2011 11:54:00 +0000 itimjim 1447@/talks/discussions @LPowell , I received a rather splendid anamorphic adapter at a very keen price. I've only just began testing with it, and yes it's got some quirks as all the adapters do, except the worth-its-weight-in-gold Iscoramas.

The rear lens element on the adapter is 52mm, which is also fitted with a custom step up for a 52mm thread size. This means my collection of Canon FDs bolt directly into it. 28/2, 50/1.4, 85/1.8 and 135/2.8. I also have the Panasonic 14-140, 100-300 and 14/2.5, which I've bought a 42 to 52mm step up ring for to attach the Century to it. Knowing that 14mm is super wide, I was expecting a complete mess of results and some serious vignetting. I was pleasantly wrong. It's far from perfect though, but in my mind, usable nonetheless.

I'm still testing the anamorphic. I'm keen to do real world, rather than test charts, so it may take some time. I'm a bit concerned over edge sharpness in some of my longer lenses, as first look seemed to be much of the same, although less pronounced. I do have a Tokina +0.4 Achromat to rig up somehow to the lens, which looks to help, although not for infinity.

Here's a very run and gun sample from the other night, and a few photos of the adapter mounted on the 14/2.5....which looks insane :-)

Without a diopter you can't focus that close. The Eyepatch Productions guy has done various vlogs on using anamorphic adapters specializing on the La7000, but thats out of my price range. He did use a cheap diopter, instead of the $100+ the guy from EOSHD recommends and he got good close focus. I asked if any cheap diopter would do and he said yes. I ordered a set of 62mm diopters from adorama, these: http://www.adorama.com/MC62CUS.html Their name brand set and it cost under $25 shipped.

They allowed me to close focus. Not sure the order they'll attach, but these are with an old Nikon E 50mm 1.8 around 4 feet away. Image10 is without diopter. Image9 is with 1+ diopter. And image11 is bare lens no adapter. Shot with poor fluorescent overhead lights and iso 640. Image6 is iso100 with diopter. Lens wide open in each shot.]]>

Is it possible to record 1080x2581 (2.39:1) AVCHD with GH13 or Gh2 ??? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1427/is-it-possible-to-record-1080x2581-2.391-avchd-with-gh13-or-gh2- Fri, 11 Nov 2011 17:24:30 +0000 kronstadt 1427@/talks/discussions The 2X crop factor is the greatest annoyance with GH1 and GH2, which also means that a whole lot needs to be spent on super wide lenses in order to get a shot just wide enough. One way to battle that is to use Anamorphic adaptors, and those cost an arm and a leg, and are very difficult to handle (imagine follow-focusing both the lens and the anamorphic adaptor simultaneously; or imagine having to remove and re-attach the anamorphic adapter every time you change a lens).

It is possible to record AVCHD 1080p (height). But what is the maximum WIDTH of the video that can be recorded with GH13 and GH2? Are we limited to 1920, or is it possible to go wider with some sort of a hack/patch? Would it be possible to record 1080x2581 for example? That's the industry standard 2.39:1 aspect ratio that we get in most Hollywood and DVD productions these days.

If it would be possible, it would mean that those folks who don't have the fortune to afford anamorphic lenses, can still use their existing lenses and produce a picture that is at least in the same aspect ratio as cinema standard (albeit without the oouie flares and anamorphic bokeh). The other major benefit would be that a 20mm lens can be used as a ~27mm, rather than a 40mm.

Is it currently possible? if not, is it in development?

Sat, 13 Aug 2011 08:52:33 +0000 Gabel 662@/talks/discussions Sharpness seems ok, especially with stuff at a distance. But this thing needs a diopter which brings me to my second point.

That damn lens hood! Firstly I'm a matte box user and that thing gets in the way. Secondly, it won't take filters. So I need to get a solution to this.
One is to get a new front, if these exist (the front says called DC-S HOOD 72mm).
The other is to remove the hood. Here was a guide on how to remove one from a Nikon lens and I'm guessing this technique would work here too though.

But it won't take filters. As I have yet to find any 4X4 diopters (I hear Tiffen makes them, but haven't been able to find them), but if these exist, this would work great.
Otherwise I could try to fit a filter holder on the front. The area around the lens is recessed as you can see, which I think could work to mount a step ring to get a filter gear.
But would it work to mount a diopter behind the lens? Then I could just get a 52mm one that I could mount in between the anamorphic lens and my lenses. This would mean I won't have to mount a step ring.]]>
80Mbit MJPEG 4:3 for 2x anamorphic shooting http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/350/80mbit-mjpeg-43-for-2x-anamorphic-shooting Thu, 07 Jul 2011 14:58:02 +0000 EOSHD 350@/talks/discussions
No settings for this apart from the resolution / size change as was default in PTools for MJPEG.

Today I am testing new MJPEG encoder settings for improved image quality.

I have started off with these settings by CRFilms and LPowell as a basis http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/comment/1762#Comment_1762

The purpose of these settings is for those with 2x stretch anamorphic lenses to get true 2.35:1 cinemascope from the GH2, rather than the more extreme 3.55:1 aspect ratio generated the lenses when used in 1080p 16:9 mode. I much prefer the less extreme cinema standard of 2.35:1 or 2.39:1, since that is what these anamorphic lenses were intended to make with 4:3 35mm film.

Today I have found MJPEG settings that seem to work well for recording quality and so sharing them here. I'll also share my further tests here. There is always room for improvement and new discoveries. The GH2 is good hardware, faster than the GH1 so who knows how high we can push it?

Rather than use 1440x1080, 1280x960 is necessary to avoid corruption, unexpected clip curtailment and enable the much higher bitrates.

Bitrate with my settings is approx. 80Mbit (variable). VLC Player reports a stream between 65,000kb and 85,000kb per second. 80,000kb is 78Mbit (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&biw=1504&bih=877&q=80000+kb+in+megabits&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=). Please correct me if I am wrong on anything technical. The footage looks great so far in this mode.

I need to do more reliability testing and see how far we can push it. Yet to find the final 'sweet-spot' but these settings are a good starting point for fellow testers.

480p Width: 1280
480p Height: 960
F1 Quality=280
F1 Table=4
F2 Quality=250
F2 Table=10
F3 Quality=225
F3 Table=24
F4 Quality=200
F4 Table=48

Lens was a LOMO 35mm 2x anamorphic in OCT18 mount.

I did not change any other settings.

Hacked my Lomo Anamorphic!! http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/610/hacked-my-lomo-anamorphic Sat, 06 Aug 2011 17:44:58 +0000 LPowell 610@/talks/discussions
The only fly in the ointment was a common affliction found in lenses that have survived years of abuse: fungus :( HHL told me about it before I bought the Lomo, so it came as no surprise, and at first I didn't see any visible effects on my footage. After some practice with anamorphic double-focusing, however, I started to notice the subtle milky spots produced by the fungus stains. Bummer.

Soon after I received the Lomo, I tried to take off the front lens plate to see how it was put together. Predictably, there was just one little screw out of the eight that would not budge, dissuading me from going any further. This morning, however, I finally resolved to force my way into the Lomo's inner sanctum, and pried up the lid until the wretched screw head broke off. This exposed the thick front anamorphic lens element, which was wedged in place with a few metal shims. After coaxing these out, the front element compliantly dropped into my palm, along with the fleeting scent of decades-old lubricant. Success!

To disinfect the Lomo's interior realms, I mixed up some Butanone spiked with a dash of Stolichnaya vodka. This made its anamorphic parts glisten appreciatively. After it's reassembled, I'll put up some frame grabs.]]>
