Hobbyists, photo enthusiasts and professionals alike will be captivated by the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 8mm f/1.8 PRO Fisheye lens' 180-degree diagonal angle of view. Like the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO, this lens includes dustproof and splashproof construction, for unlimited wide-angle adventure. The lens is also compatible with a custom dome port for use with an Olympus underwater housing.

The M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 8mm f/1.8 PRO Fisheye lens is constructed of 17 elements in 15 groups and can capture high resolution at the very edges of an image, even at the maximum aperture of f/1.8. ZERO Coating minimizes optical flares and ghosting. The lens also comes with a fixed lens hood and a pinch-style lens cap LC-62.

From under the sea to the night sky, the record-breaking new M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 8mm Fisheye 1:1.8 PRO is an unprecedented opportunity to add stand-out creativity and a uniquely dynamic and abstract look to extremely wide-angle shots of the natural world. Unprecedented, because – in this category – the Fisheye PRO is the world’s brightest fisheye lens*. The super-large aperture ensures photographers top-notch optical performance in any conditions, especially in low light. The 2.5-cm minimum focusing distance (measured from end of the lens) and maximum magnification of x0.2 make it a logical choice for nature photographers with a passion for quirky perspectives and eye-catching bokeh.

But the Fisheye PRO is also ideal for fast-action sports photography; landscape, nightscape and sky panoramas; as well as crowds, interiors or architecture. For underwater specialists, it likewise opens up exciting new opportunities – it’s compatible with a range of accessories via the new underwater lens port PPO-EP02.

Like the other lenses in the M.ZUIKO PRO family, it’s extremely compact and lightweight, especially compared to equivalent D-SLR rivals. The build quality is top notch. In pre-launch tests, professional photographers were quick to praise the blur-free performance of the Fisheye PRO at both ends of the f stop scale. Light fall-off at the edges is negligible, as are both chromatic and comatic aberrations, particularly when compared to equivalent rival lenses.

Trying to replicate film using a SD camera - something interesting about starting with a SD camera with CCD sensor to get to this effect vs using a higher res camera. Also blooming the highlights

Also interested in seeing what people's favorite film grain is.

Which CCTV lens for wide angle fisheye use ? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7609/which-cctv-lens-for-wide-angle-fisheye-use- Fri, 26 Jul 2013 05:31:26 +0000 TruHype 7609@/talks/discussions Hello everyone,

I've recently started to get interested in C mount (CCTV) lens, for they are fast, wide, and cheap. So I wondered, is there any CCTV lens that I could use as a Fisheye (and get the same effect as the Panasonic 8mm f3.5, but faster) ? Here's a few lens I've found looking on the internet :

  • Rainbow 3.5mm 1.6

  • Tamron 4-12mm 1.2

  • Pentax 6mm 1.2 (+ wide conversion lens x0.45)

Wanted effect :

The GH2 exact m4/3 sensor crop is x1.86.

So I would like to get the same widness as the Panasonic 8mm or any 8mm Fisheye (Samyang, Peleng, Rokinon...) :

Panasonic 8mm : 8 x 1.86 = 14.88mm equivalent (no need for ETC mode)

Rainbow 3.5mm : 3.5 x 1.86 = 6.51 -> 6.51 x 2 = 13mm equivalent

Pentax 6mm : 6 x 1.86 = 11.16 -> 11.6 x 2 = 23.2mm equivalent -> 23.2 x 0.45 = 10.44mm equivalent

x 1.86 : GH2 Sensor Crop

x 2 : ETC tele conversion mode crop (to cover vignetting)

x 0.45 : Wide convversion lens

Does that mean we could use any CCTV c mount lens instead of the Panasonic lens to get the wide fisheye effect ?

A few videos :

Lenses :

C mount lens (1/2") work well on the GH2, but I heard that the CS mount lens (1/3") would still have really heavy vignetting because even with the ETC mode it would not cover entirely the GH2 sensor. Is that true ?

Interesting CS mount lens, but 1/3 inch : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/TAMRON-Manual-Iris-CCTV-Lens-3-0-8mm-1-1-0-ASPHERICAL-C-Mount-3-Mega-Pixel-/261248954560?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3cd3a6b0c0

I would use the fisheye to film Skateboarding.

Thank you.

8mm film scanner transfer possible? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9058/8mm-film-scanner-transfer-possible Wed, 11 Dec 2013 15:15:36 +0000 ragnar 9058@/talks/discussions I had my Super 8mm home movies transferred to DVD about 20 years ago. I think they bounced the image off a mirror and onto a video camera and then made the DVD, I think. Anyway, the transfer isn't bad really and I've edited the footage in Premiere on and off over the years, however, I was recently thinking that there must be better ways of doing it today in 2013. Has anyone here had their Super 8 films ran through a proper film scanner for archiving? How did it look? Did it cost a million dollars? ; ) I have about 13 reels of various lengths. If it is hyper pricey I wouldn't do it, but of course that's relative to the person. I've done a google search but I'm looking to hear from someone here who might have done this.

KineRaw-S8p Super 8mm HD Sensor 2k RAW http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2644/kineraw-s8p-super-8mm-hd-sensor-2k-raw Wed, 21 Mar 2012 13:39:49 +0000 CRFilms 2644@/talks/discussions

This was mentioned in the KineRAW S35 thread a bit, but since this is a different model I think this deserves it's own thread. The guy testing just posted this anamorphic test. He says in the info he shot it at 1828x1556 with some 16mm glass and 2x anamorphic adapter. This footage looks pretty good, HOWEVER....I've seen footage as good with the GH1/2, BUT...

Supposedly this will be cheaper than the 5d m3 and the Digital bolex. Possibly $2k, maybe even lower.

Fisheye for GH2 : Rokinon 7.5mm f3.5 OR Rokinon 8mm f2.8 with adapter ? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8798/fisheye-for-gh2-rokinon-7.5mm-f3.5-or-rokinon-8mm-f2.8-with-adapter- Sun, 17 Nov 2013 04:41:27 +0000 TruHype 8798@/talks/discussions Hello everyone,

I just recently wanted to buy a fisheye lens to filming skateboard videos, but I came across 2 different fisheyes :

  • The Rokinon 7.5mm f3.5 for Micro 4/3

Or

  • The Rokinon 8mm f2.8 for Sony E-mount (NEX-7, NEX-5, NEX-3...) + Adapter

The thing is I know the Rokinon for M4/3 is going to fit directly on my camera (tried it in a shop), but the Rokinon for Sony is much faster, but maybe a little less wide...

Can you please help me choose ?

Thank you.

Transferring Super 8mm Film: Best GH2 picture mode for accurate color reproduction? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6537/transferring-super-8mm-film-best-gh2-picture-mode-for-accurate-color-reproduction Thu, 28 Mar 2013 22:18:12 +0000 powderbanks 6537@/talks/discussions I have collected several reels of Super 8mm film over the years and I finally picked up a transfer 'box' from eBay. Most of the footage is color and general 'home video' stuff (Christmas, somebody's wedding, some kid's birthday, etc), so what is the best picture profile on the GH2 to accurately reproduce the original color of the film?

I typically shoot with 'Smooth' all at -2, but that's so I get a very flat, gradable image. I will probably transcode the AVCHD files straight to an internet ready H.264 file, but I have no plans of grading any of it.

If possible it would be nice to just make any transaction through PayPal to avoid the ebay seller fee.
It's a shame that ebay and paypal are pretty much one in the same, yet both hit a seller with fees. not cool

Adapting integrated (motorized) zoom lenses from super8mm cine camera? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5247/adapting-integrated-motorized-zoom-lenses-from-super8mm-cine-camera Mon, 19 Nov 2012 18:26:14 +0000 tomek123 5247@/talks/discussions Hello,

I found some VERY good offers for super8 film cameras like these:

http://www.super8data.com/database/cameras_list/cameras_revue/cameras_revue.htm

http://www.super8camera.com/netsearch.php?sq=canon+518&page=2

http://www.super8data.com/database/cameras_list/cameras_nizo/nizo_156xl.htm

http://super8arena.com/braun-nizo-4080-p-188.html

Unfortunately, I heard from the sellers that they have unchangeable lenses.

As I understood the zoom distance of this lenses can be changed from a button on the camera body, so probably it would be difficult to take off the lens from the cam... One of the sellers told me the lens has electric control of the zoom and the aperture is changed also from the camera.

I don't know anything about this, but these zoom lenses are pretty fast and VERY cheap (Revue Reflex Zoom f: 1.7 \ F: 8-40 mm and Canon 9.5 - 47.5mm f/1.8 and especially Schneider Macro-Variogon 1,4 / 7 - 80 mm from the Brown cameras) .

I think they could be useful for GH2/3 with a ETC mode, so I wondered if someone already achieved some adaptation of this lens type to micro 4/3?

Thank you in advance.

First Underwater deep SEDNA test http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2693/first-underwater-deep-sedna-test Mon, 26 Mar 2012 04:58:18 +0000 LongJohnSilver 2693@/talks/discussions Hi all,

Saturday finally I got my Nauticam housing so I had the chance to bring with me underwater. Actually I had organized a deep dive with my friends already. So it wasn't the best circumstance to test a brand new equipment: too many things to pay attention to: gases, scooter, depth... but I did not resist bringing the new housing and lights with me. I had a lot problems trying to get the proper light orientation (2x L&M SOLA 2000). The lumix 8mm fisheye has a huge angle so the lights must be moved back to fill the scene. Anyway... just a test with sickening shots.

@driftwood SEDNA A settings, mostly ISO 500, Lumix 8mm wide open (it's quite soft at the borders). All the shots taken between 60 and 75meter (195 - 246 feet)
