Samyang Optics introduced new manual focus lenses for full frame DSLR cameras: 20mm F1.8 photo lens and 20mm T1.9 cine lens. As known for the brand’s wide and bright lenses, Samyang 20mm series adopted bright F1.8 aperture to provide perfect wide angle for interior shots and landscapes.

The Samyang 20mm F1.8 ED AS UMC and 20mm T1.9 ED AS UMC are wide angle manual focus lenses for DSLR cameras with full frame sensor size. It has been a year that Samyang launched the full frame DSLR camera lens and latest lens was the 135mm series.

Samyang Lenses are known for its bright apertures and so does this Samyang 20mm series. These two lenses have a bright aperture of F1.8, equivalent of T1.9 for cine lenses, to offer a best quality images under various lighting conditions. Also, the lightweight Samyang 20mm series brings the portability to increase the convenience.

Based on Samyang Optics’ exceptional optical technology, 13 glasses in 12 groups are used to create the most optimal image quality. Among 13 glasses, there are 2 aspherical lenses and 3 extra-low dispersion lenses per lens to minimize aberration and unnecessary light dispersion, delivering high resolution from centre to corners of the image.

This 20mm angle of view was designed to fulfill consumers’ requests to explore various occasions with Samyang Lens. In between ultra-wide 14mm and wide-standard 24mm, 20mm lens is a perfect fit to explore wide angles not only for shooting indoor images such as concerts and interior photos but also street snaps. The 0.2m of minimum focusing adds versatility to the lens.

Add Samyang 20mm T1.9 to Your Samyang VDSLR Kit

Specifically, the Samyang 20mm T1.9 is a cine lens optimally designed for professional follow focus system, thanks to the quiet and smooth de-clicked focus and aperture gear rings. Also, the distance scale and T numbers are marked on both sides of the lens for convenience when filming.

The best partners to explore your wideness, the Samyang 20mm series is globally available from September. The suggested retail prices are EUR 499 for 20mm F1.8 photo lens and EUR 549 for 20mm T1.9 cine lens.

Joining Panasonic’s well regarded family of digital interchangeable lenses of LUMIX G based on the Micro Four Thirds standard, this model features a newly designed metallic profile, and sleek, sophisticated design elegantly finished in black and silver. Maintaining the stunning performance of LUMIX G 20 mm / F1.7 ASPH., the new LUMIX G 20 mm / F1.7 II ASPH. is extremely compact and lightweight & its F1.7 brightness that enables beautiful soft focus on the background for the subject to stand out impressively.

Short Doc - Shot in Bush of Sierra Leone. A7s II, Rokinon 20mm, No lights. http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16725/short-doc-shot-in-bush-of-sierra-leone.-a7s-ii-rokinon-20mm-no-lights. Tue, 11 Apr 2017 10:33:36 +0000 TS_Naylor 16725@/talks/discussions A family's sense of mission brings desperately needed health and medical aid to Sierra Leone's poorest of the poor.

This film was shot entirely on a Sony A7s II with no lights, tripod or crew, just me as director - DP. For my day job, I work with full size crews and camera packages (Alexa, Red, etc) for TV and commercials. But this project, took place in the bush of one of the poorest countries on Earth. The entire camera / sound package had to fit in a small back back and never leave my sight. For sound I used a Rode Video Mic Pro for almost everything and a Sennheiser G3 kit for interviews. For glass, I used a Canon 24-105 and a Rokinon 20mm Cine as well as a full set of Tiffen White Water 77mm Filters and BW Polarizer.

Initially, I ran with a Movcam cage and top handle as well with Wooden Camera handgrips and an F&V Spectra 4.3" on board monitor. But after a few hours, I realized the paramilitary look of the camera attracted too much attention and undermined my subject's candidness, I stripped it down to just the camera body, metabones E mount adaptor, lens and Rode Mic and used the camera's EVF or LCD. It's amazing how a small change in gear, changes people's behavior around you. If I came in with a proper "pro" rig, I would've been mobbed at every turn.

For settings, I tried the EOS Pro Settings. Big mistake. Contrasty and red. Fail for sunny conditions and skin tones. You'll can easily see which shots used that. I then switched back to my reliable Cine 4 settings with black level pushed up, magenta down, sharpness all the way down, etc. Despite the settings mistake, it was definitely a blast and a learning experience.

Post was done on FCPX. With the latest updates, I find this to be the best doc editing software out there. Took me a while to make the switch but once I figured out the language, it saves me at least 30 % more time over Premier or Avid. Transcoded A7s II 4k footage to Pro Rez LT to cut and finish on.

Anyway, enjoy the film.

We used the Panasonic 20mm for the opening shots (would have preferred the entire shoot on this lens but we were in a time crunch) and the Panasonic 14mm-140mm for everything else. A couple focus issues, but overall happy with the content from such a short time frame.

Panasonic 20mm f/1.7, 14.5mm f/2.5 or Samyang 16mm f/2.0? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10570/panasonic-20mm-f1.7-14.5mm-f2.5-or-samyang-16mm-f2.0 Mon, 09 Jun 2014 18:48:46 +0000 brant_moore 10570@/talks/discussions Does anyone have experience with all three of these lenses that can chime in on what might work best for me.

The lens I purchase will be for the gh4 and gh2 to be used in a factory setting as well as action sports on a daily basis. I need something wide and fast. Autofocus isn't a deal breaker so the Samyang isn't out just for its lack there of. Autofocus is nice, but if the Samyang is superior enough I can deal without it. I will also use this lens for interviews occasionally. Just looking for a professional opinion for a the best quality all around lens that is wide and fast.

Right now I have the 14-42mm, Samyang 7.5mm and a 50mm f/1.4 Nikon with adapter. Im trying to stick around 300-400$ and willing to buy another adapter, so if there is another lens in this area please bring it up.

Thanks in advance for any help!

20mm pancake AFS http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/499/20mm-pancake-afs Tue, 26 Jul 2011 12:15:14 +0000 LongJohnSilver 499@/talks/discussions The lumix lenses, when used in video mode, set automagically in AFC regardless if AFC/AFS is set on the camera. AFC is useless on all the lens except (maybe) on 14-140mm. I know that MF is the best option but for underwater use some housing doesn't have the focus ring so the half pressing the shutter button to trig the focus is the only way to get a decent autofocus.

Is this behavior (forced AFC) something triggered by the camera firmware or the lens firmware?

Thank you in advance]]>

Amazing traditional event caught by balazer's "Cake v2.3" http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5673/amazing-traditional-event-caught-by-balazers-cake-v2.3 Sat, 05 Jan 2013 18:27:20 +0000 tetakpatak 5673@/talks/discussions Breathtaking, since ca 400 years traditional Santa Claus processions take part every year in many localities in the central region of Switzerland. This is just raw-edited video, to transmit the impression of such events. As we are very international forum here, please let know if there is something similar going on in your region?

Particulary this event took part in the small village on the Lucerne lake called Beckenried.

This was the most difficult video editing in my life: I have kind of slow PC right. It is fast enough for hard audio editing, but it just can not handle GH2+Cake v2.3 bitrates (thanks, @balazer!) of average 66mbps reaching nearly 100mbps peak bitrate. So, I wasnt able to playback in the editing software at all, after 1-2 seconds the PC would struggle nearby freezing. Maybe it's not the PC but very simple editing software who is cause of the problem, no idea. So, I've wrote down timecodes of the excerpts to be used and edited them just "on feeling" and routine....

This lovely, little and beautiful event is much smaller than the famous, big one organized in the city called Küssnacht. The circumstances were nearly impossible for recording: temperature -10°C / 14°F and so much crowd that I could only strech the tripod on its full length and keep it with folded legs on my hip. Better than handheld, though....

Some details about the content of the recorded event are written in the video text, directly on YouTube. And here are few liks about this kind of traditional event in the region, if somebody interested:

Both seems good glasses, the main use is video and film, photography as secundary, The examples indicate both are greats and cinematographic look. So, i like much use mi GH2 in the night, the luminosity is therefore a necessary condition for my.

Some people say the Panix is best, and argue the SLR is a CCTV overpriced, that argument isnt mine, so, for the tests, I think the SLR is wonderful and the price isnt excessive.

Actually I have a 14-42 its a regular lens, but is poor in low light condition and noisy in high ISO. A FD 50mm 1.8, superb, great look and softness, but have a limited angles.

I need objective opinions, thanks

I've enjoyed being a part of this forum the last several months and trying out the hacks, responding to a few posts, etc. and thought this would be one of the best places to let people know I am selling one of my two Panasonic GH2's. Lots of extras....

Please check out my eBay listing....
