Replacement flex cable for 14-140 zoom http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10594/replacement-flex-cable-for-14-140-zoom Thu, 12 Jun 2014 16:06:20 +0000 prey99 10594@/talks/discussions Hi guys, I am having a hard time finding a flex cable part to replace a defective unit in my lumix 14-140mm zoom HVS014140.

The lens is actually at a repair shop, which is how I know the flex is the problem.

But the repair person stumbled upon the problem that there is no orderable part number, and it is not showing on ebay.

So he basically told me that if I couldn´t find the part, he could not do the repair.

Panny already replied this lame answer:

Dear Pedro, I am sorry the Flex Cable is not supplied as a service part.

Am I to assume that for an $20 buck part I will loose a $500 lens ? Remember I am in Costa Rica, son not many local or even regional options... please guys a little help!!!

Thanks!

Lumix 14-140 disassembly? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8239/lumix-14-140-disassembly Wed, 25 Sep 2013 21:40:14 +0000 jaycanode 8239@/talks/discussions Howdy. Worked on a shoot in the Grand Canyon for a bit with my GH3 and "kit lens". Body did great lens got a bit sandy. Everything works as it should internally but the focus ring now has less than desirable "action". Am I crazy for wanting to try and fix this myself? If not, anyone got a line on an exploded diagram of this lens? Thanks.

Wide Angle converter for 14-140mm lens ? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7605/wide-angle-converter-for-14-140mm-lens- Thu, 25 Jul 2013 20:11:47 +0000 TruHype 7605@/talks/discussions Hi,

I was wondering if any wide conversion lens could fit on the 14-140mm panasonic lens, like the "Wide Conversion Lens DMW-GWC1" works on the Panasonic 14mm f2.5 ? The thread is 62mm, so would some converters like this work ? http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Impact-DVP-WA65-62-62mm-Wide-Angle-Converter-Lens-/110823536775?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item19cd98f887 or http://www.amazon.fr/Olympus-WCON-Convertisseur-grand-angle/dp/B0000511RI

Thanks for answering.

GH2 + 14-140 for sale http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7476/gh2-14-140-for-sale Tue, 09 Jul 2013 17:26:51 +0000 Scorsesefan 7476@/talks/discussions Selling my Panasonic GH2 + 14-140 kit in excellent condition functionally and cosmetically. I would rate it 9 out of 10. Purchased about 1 ½ years ago new at Adorama NYC and used on a couple of short projects as B-cam. Low hours/usage and never dropped or scratched (body or lcd). NEVER HACKED. Latest Panasonic firmware installed.

Lumix 14-140 lens is also in awesome condition functionally and cosmetically and a great all around lens for doc or narrative work.

I am also including: charger, Sandisk 16gb SDHC card, Two batteries (extra one is $50 bucks alone), Canon FD 50mm 1.8 lens with m43 adapter, original manual, and lens pouch.

Local NYC buyer or free CONUS ship.

Reducing the GH2's sharpness on the 14-140mm kit lens http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6252/reducing-the-gh2s-sharpness-on-the-14-140mm-kit-lens- Mon, 25 Feb 2013 14:49:33 +0000 TruHype 6252@/talks/discussions Hi,

I own the GH2 with the 14-140mm Lumix lens, and I just started making films. I really like the 14-140mm, it has a very fast autofocus (for filming skateboard or whatever...), and when zoomed in it has a very nice DOF. But the problem is, it is way too sharp (even with sharpness at -2 and the Apocalypse Now DrewNet 'Soft' hack 444 matrix). I bought the GH2 thinking that it would have the same "Smooth" effect as the Canon T2i, 7D, 5D but with more resolution... because the GH2 IS a DLSR (or should I say DSLM). I know I could have this effect if I use non-panasonic or vintage lenses, but right know I own only the Lumix 14-140, and I'm not buying new lenses right now (or anamorphic adapters). The videos with those kit lens looks too much like a cheep Hi-rez camcorder and not like a DSLR or Cinematic or RED video... I know, I know, I should use a short DOF, reduce everything to -2... bla bla bla... But the 14-140 is still too sharp. It maybe even look a tad better on the GH1...

Now is there any type of HACK made especially for that type of lens, or any HACK that really softens the image down (canon-like) without a big loss of quality ?

I've already tried "soft" hacks (apocalypse now...etc), but it doesn't change anything, the edges are still too rough and sharp.

  • I would like that kind of soft light and professional effect from Canon cameras (but with better quality) :

  • And not this too sharp/camcorder look effect (even though it's a cool video) :

  • But the best would be this effect (those are NOT Lumix lenses) :

(And yes, I like parkour)

I know that there are already some posts that are about the same, but none of them really helps me.

Please help me !

Harvey.

You all know about this lens. Indispensable in a GH2/3 or any other micro four thirds kit. The OIS is great on this lens, and I relied on it many times in run and gun situations and it preformed admirably. Great zoom.

Here are some pics:

One camera, One lens, One Hack http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6371/one-camera-one-lens-one-hack Sun, 10 Mar 2013 19:34:53 +0000 Rambo 6371@/talks/discussions This is the Full version of the video, all shot with one camera, one lens, one hack. There is an awesome Haka (traditional ancestral war cry, dance or challenge from the Māori people of New Zealand) at 3:20 immediately after the commentator.

GH1 and 14-140 kit lens, ND8 filter, STD Profile 00+10. The patch for this video was the awesome but seldom used LPowell Fast Action 720p30 50Mbps @ 3-frame GOP AVCHD Patch. The audio was a Zoom H1 internal mics with windsock placed on the ground in front of the performers and the commentator at the end had the Zoom stuck mid chest inside his shirt.

This is a very short short. I'm not a plus member on Vimeo, so you'll have to click through and watch it over there at Vimeo in HD.

I've made this on my first visit to one of the 22 islands in the archipelago here - the Red Island. I wanted to see what kind of footage can I come up with while going somewhere for the first time, on foot, with no extra gear, just handheld camera.

Lumix GH2 with Lumix 14-140mm + ColorGHear.

Honest criticism is welcome, better yet mandatory :)

Hacked GH2 Works GREAT for Corporate Videos! MY EXAMPLES http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5669/hacked-gh2-works-great-for-corporate-videos-my-examples Sat, 05 Jan 2013 09:04:04 +0000 Luke 5669@/talks/discussions Hey guys!

Been watching this forum for a long time and decided it's time to share some of what I've been doing with Vitaliy and Driftwood's magic patches.

Here's a corporate interview style video shot using the older Orion v4 patch I think it was.

And here's a more recent one with Cluster v6 Drew Net.

Both videos were done with green screens, two fluro lights and a reflector for a basic three-point lighting setup on the subject, also using a rode lapel mic recording to a Zoom H1. Lens is just the standard 14-42mm.

I am simply blown away with the results. I've made sure to donate in return. Thanks guys!

smooth(er) manual zoom on Panasonic 14-140 (finally!) http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5614/smoother-manual-zoom-on-panasonic-14-140-finally- Sat, 29 Dec 2012 21:12:29 +0000 village_west 5614@/talks/discussions I've always been envious of the motor zoom of prosumer camcorders , slow zoom in particular , via lanc. Never been able to get close to that with a 14-140 (on GH2) , until yesterday when I placed (by mistake) a rubber band on top of the focal scale and bingo: the zoom gets the right resistance and now it can be smooth (even on slow action, even on very slow action). almost as good as a lanc zoom controller set slow. the band should be large enough to cover the entire scale (broccoli bands are a little big and don't give a good resistance, but they can be shorten with a clip or something. The band that I used came from a softbox for flash). Works very well with a lensstrap zoom lever. Well, this works for me, just wanted to share.

Edit: Price Drop $399

Hi - I'm selling my Panasonic 14-140mm Lens. It really is in perfect condition. I bought it new about 6 months ago and have used it maybe 5 times because I've been using only LOMO lenses since I got my GH2. It's basically been sitting in it's pouch inside the Panasonic box for 6 months. It comes with everything it came with when purchased new - Panasonic box, papers, front and rear lens cap, lens shade.

Great zoom range from very wide (14mm) to zoomed in very far (140mm). Lens has Optical Image Stabilization.

Price is $399 and includes free shipping if in US.

Just wanted to know if you guys believe the 14-140 is worth the buy especially for video use, i've heard its quite slow indoors.. or should i get something like the panaleica 14-50. It has AF and OIS. Is OIS a must for video recording, especially if you have some moving around?
