DNG 1.4 Announced

    Adobe has released the specs fpr DNG 1.4.

    Good stuff. Lossy compression for RAW, ala Red.

    Lossy compression is the most important.

    Only issue is that it seems like Adobe is not really interested in DNG video.

    adobe has shown that they listen and are interested in native workflows. They didn't rule out cinemaDNG they just said they are going to assess the interest of their customers in the format before moving forward.

    If bmcc can get lossy dng through a firmware update that would be huge.

    I thought DNG was an open source standard. Can't someone else apply the lossy compression to CinemaDNG?

    As far as I remember it is just standard with open specifications.

    Black Magic so called CinemaDNG is just sequence of DNG files :-)
