    In all retail boards instead companies use BGA soldered chips, it allows around $2-5 profit increase, but most importantly - it allows companeis to not sell chips on open market, hence not allowing price war of GPU cards manufacturers.

    Now Taiwan based manufacturers formed cartel with AMD and Nvidia to keep price and profits at very nice levels. Industry experts expect that if GPUs will be available at universal standard price on open market we could see as much as 30-40% of GPU card drop within a year.
