A quick trip back in time to the court of Louis XIV, the Sun King (Roi de Soleil). In Paris at this time, they favored Flemish harpsichords from the renaissance family of Ruckers--these instruments were modified to have a slightly larger keyboard, along with some other changes, creating a unique hybrid.
