Hey guys,

Check out my latest commercial shot on two hacked GH1's (GH13, GH17). The camera did freeze on the really wide shot, but after I opened up a bit, the write errors went away.

only used nokton 25/0.95
edit in FCP. no post processing at all. everything is out-of-cam.

This is the continuation of Color Grading thread I posted, but I thought it was worth separating the two.

I shot this video at the end of July with a GH13 and a Red Mx. All of the body mounted shots that you see of the artist running around in were done with the GH13.

The concept of the video was inspired by graphic novels, and a bleeding of reality with dynamic illustrations. As a result I attempted to give the footage an HDR, almost drawn-in look. Enjoy!

Just wrapped up this video with the gh2. Shot with 20mm 1.7, canon fd 50mm 1.4, 14-42 kit lens and a Tamron 28-105 2.8. I just picked up an AF100, but the gh2 will still get tons of use!

It's been beautiful in upstate NY the past month. Decided to shoot some footage using the 44mb hack last week and make a little edited piece out of it. This is the first cutting I've done of anything shot with any of the hacks. I was happy with the results. Would I have benefited at all with a higher bitrate option like driftwood's?

I really have a hard time seeing the difference from the vimeo plus two pass 1080p encode and the 55mbit

Not a test video - GH13 Handheld Hong Kong

I shot this in Hong Kong a few weeks ago and thought it might be of interest to people who shoot handheld in difficult situations like on boats etc.

Hand held GH13 with the awesome Lpowell 75 Peak performance patch.
All 14 - 140 kit lens with ND4
Shot 720p 50fps in Creative Movie mode/shutter priority 1/100
No Tripod or post stabilization used
Graded in Sony Vegas Pro

Basically, i set zoom, press the lock AF/AE button (which snaps focus sets Exposure) and press video record button.
The Gh1 did a pretty good job considering the challenging lighting conditions (haze) and amount of movement. Jello is hard to find.

If you love Hong Kong, the scenic views from the circumnavigation of HK Island will delight you.

"A Good Day Christmas Story" (driftwood Intra broadcast)

A Christmas Story done in 30 seconds for a Good Day Sacramento promo. Done with @Driftwood SeAQuake 1080/24p. Shot with 14-42mm at 14mm (first time I used the lens) on a fig rig. It will be broadcasting from now until Christmas.

this is a video a made on the day i made the iso hack. Had dinner plans with some very hungry guys... It's heavily graded, but it's show in B&W smooth setting.

"Gule ærter" means "yellow peas" and it's an old school danish dish where you make a soup of yellow peas and you eat it with sausages and pork

This community is fantastic and with much respect and gratitude for all testers I am very happy to share a short docu-film I made using the GH2vk and the GOP3 100mbps Driftwood patch (which is now ancient LOL!) - I am currently using Driftwood's newest GOP1 AQuamotion V2
It was done over this past summer and really shows the incredible improvements to quality all made possible by Vitaliy with the hacked firmware.

This is a 1 in a billion video. It shows a plane flying in front of the moon at 0:04. It was shot with the GH2 in 1080p @ 24 FPS mode with a 400mm Canon FD lens and two 2x stacked teleconverters for a combined 35mm equivalent focal length of 3200mm. I used the "No Adverse Affects" hack at 42 mb/sec.

It is nearly impossible to stage a shot like this because at this focal length any movement at all will cause the shot to be off. You can see the movement in the camera even though it was on a tripod.

I didn't even know that the plane had crossed in front of the moon until I watched the video.

It's time to "RISE UP" in Lynchburg VA

Footage from the "RISE UP" ABS 13 Bouldering comp in Lynchburg VA. Shot with a hacked GH2 in 1080p @ 24 FPS mode with the "No Adverse Affects" settings.

All of the color scenes were shot in the Cinema color mode. Contrary to popular belief it actually offers the lowest noise because it is the least boosted of the color modes. However, it does require that you push the video up about 2/3s of a stop because it under exposes.

The smooth mode actually has the most noise of all of the color modes because it underexposes the RAW image by 1/3 of a stop and then boosts both the shadows and the highlights. This causes additional noise in the shadows and can blow out highlights. My opinion is that it is much better to record the compressed video as close to the RAW image as possible and then only boost the levels of the shadows in post instead of letting the camera boost everything automatically.

I have hopes that one day VK can create a hack that will let us boost only the shadow detail of the Cinema mode and leave the highlights untouched. Currently only the I.dynamic mode can boost the shadows and leave the highlights untouched. However, the I.dynamic mode only triggers if the video is severely underexposed with blown out highlights as well. That situation is nearly impossible to replicate indoors without any sunlight.

No adverse Affects hack settings.

The B&W shots were done in B&W standard mode because it has the least amount of contrast added to it(Technically subtracted from it). The B&W smooth mode actually overexposes the image and then adds in excessive contrast. This is not ideal for low light indoor scenes.

All of the shots with extreme noise were at ISO 12,800. The light did not require that much exposure gain. However, I figured I would try it out.

Everything was shot at 1/50th of a second for 1080p and 1/120 for 720p. The slow motion shots were the only 720p shots.

Rugby Documentary

This is a rugby documentary that I mede for my documentary filmmaking course last weekend. This may come as a shock, but people in the United States know pretty much nothing about rugby. So I set out with my classmate in an attempt to both explain the game (in part) and to capture the culture and community of our university's club team.

It was early in the morning, cold, rainy, the last game of a long season, and it was a long drive . . . and they lost. Needless to say, the players weren't very talkative. All things considered, it seemed to turn out fairly well.

Oh, and it was shot on original firmware, as I was having difficulties downloading any of the settings files on p-view. Edited straight thru in one night (yeah, college students pull all-nighters . . . often). No color-correction, and only crude audio level balancing.
