FLEXIOM DC Converter for DSLR-s and all stuff requiring specific voltage. http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6986/flexiom-dc-converter-for-dslr-s-and-all-stuff-requiring-specific-voltage.- Fri, 17 May 2013 18:23:28 +0000 feha 6986@/talks/discussions

Official name for this product will be: FLEXIOM

Flexible Input Output Manager (or Module) ...

The official website will be http://flexiom.com (under construction).

Support: feha[@]flexiom.com

P-V members will get rebate.

I have decided to make DIY product for Universal DC converter. This unit will allow use of any power source 3-30v as input and max output current will be 2A. The unit consists of voltage converter that gives you adjustable output for example GH2, GH3 8.4 V or any other equipment that is sensitive and requires exact voltage.

Consider this unit as a protection "Layer" between your DSLR and any power unit.

I know there are many ready power solutions already out on the market, but many still struggle and burn/brick their expensive equipment trying different alternative powering sources.

I decided to take my time and make this DIY product as a test but if there is an interest might get as batch production.

The unit will cost a $75 USD + postage (P-V members price). More than 65% of the price to buying needed components the rest a small compensation for research, drill and soldering :-)

For EACH UNIQUE SALE (per member) I will contribute a $10 USD to support P-V !

Product components :

  • ABS plastic project box

  • Electronics component (The converter)

  • DC IN/OUT 5.5x2.5 mm jacks

  • Digital Voltmeter (RED) with external switch to check IN voltage, OUT voltage and OFF

Let me know your interest ?

Does anyone have any recommendations please? I've found these two:

I'm assuming the monitor would be powered from the Dtap, and camera from the DC out 12v?

Cheers Jon

I recently became fond of external usb battery (like Anker or similar ones), I can now charge my smartphone, my portable speaker and my GX7 batteries with it.

I'm pretty sure all the Patona chargers for lumix G camera have that option.

DIY battery pack for 3.7v Canon Point and Shoots http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9659/diy-battery-pack-for-3.7v-canon-point-and-shoots Tue, 18 Feb 2014 15:35:33 +0000 ragnar 9659@/talks/discussions I copied someone else's plan to do this. This is my attempt. It's working for me and my Canon S100, S110 and ELPH 300HS cameras for my bird photography. With two factory batteries it supplies 4.10v, which apparently the cams don't mind as they haven't melted...yet. Anyway, I know little to nothing about electrical things and terms so if I can make it work you can too. I made a video of what I did. There are two parts. Part 1 is about 11 mins long and Part 2 about 5 mins long. I've built and tested two of these, one for the ELPH and the other for the S100 and S110. I realize that there are many other ways to do this but I liked this way because it used cheap chargers (I paid about $3 for each) and the standard batteries. I have one outside right now taking pics of winter birds. I got 4hrs and 10mins from both packs as I tested them each. That's about double the time I used to get with just one battery in the camera the normal way. Also, in hindsight, I didn't need to order Canon S100 and Canon ELPH 300HS specific chargers as the bottom line here is the 3.7v, which both NB-4L and NB-5L provide so I could've just ordered one type and went with that. Oh well, like I said, I don't know this stuff.

Part I:

Part II:

Here are two recent birdy pics using this method.

Battery solution for Panasonic G6! http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8662/battery-solution-for-panasonic-g6 Mon, 04 Nov 2013 11:56:51 +0000 kombai 8662@/talks/discussions I bough Panasonic G6 a week ago. As I am person who makes documentaries from remote areas on our planet (Papua, amazonia...) I sometimes do not have access to electricity for one or two weeks. The battery life in G6 is only 1 hour and for me it means to have about 15 batteries in my bag... So there is a battery solution for Panasonic GH2 that can make about 14 hours juice for a camera:

As the batteries are the same I made it but when turning on my G6 switches off after 3 seconds and displays "this battery is not supported" I know that there is a chip in battery and in camera but is there any way how to cope with it?

Thank you a lot!!!

Below is the email I received where you can see company details and links. I know they have an ebay store so my guess is it will pop up there soon but I haven't seen it there yet. I haven't ordered one yet but I definitely want to get one cause I need 1) a proper + safe powering solution without hanging weird batteries and without buying absurd OEM batteries 2) sth to add more "masculinity" to the miniscule and featherweight gh2

"Dear Customer
We will tell you a good news.
About PANASONIC GH2's grip is already on the market in 2011/12/20.

On this website, you can get more product information.
http://www.ownuser.com.tw/e_mig_pgh2.html

On this website, you can buy products through PAYPAL (online credit card page, like EBAY)
http://www.ownuser.com.tw/e_paypal_panasonic.html

MIG-PGH2 has four purchase specifications
(1) MIG-PGH2B = only BODY (B = BLACK)
(2) MIG-PGH2AB = BODY + MEB-03-c (A = external AA battery pack)
(3) [New specifications] MIG-PGH2RB =BODY + mini IR 2B & RHS (R = IR Remote, not the wired remote control)
(4) MIG-PGH2RAB = BODY + MEB-03-c + mini IR 2B & RHS

We recommend to buy (1) or (3).
Because AA batteries is not recommended as the main power supply that use on GH2 cameras.
Thanks for your business and support, wish you and your family a merry Christmas and happy New Year.

Anton Bauer 160Ah battery life with GH2 & monitor http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6682/anton-bauer-160ah-battery-life-with-gh2-monitor Fri, 12 Apr 2013 19:35:01 +0000 LucasAdamson 6682@/talks/discussions So, building my GH2 rig, I want a big Anton Bauer style battery on the back to power my monitor/ viewfinder and the GH2.

The added advantage is that it will balance the rig and place the weight all on my shoulder, and off my hands and arms.

So, here's my calculations, which are a little alarming:

GH2 is 3.4W (nominal) power consumption Neway 7" monitor is 8W power consumption

8W + 3.4W = 11.4W

160Ah battery is the Gold mount battery I am considering, from Globalmediapro.com - about £170

A x V = W

160Ah x 14.4v = 2304Wh

2304Wh / 11.4w = 202 Hours!!!

Could it even approach 202 Hours?

To check I looked at the same calculations with a 7000mAh (7Ah) large camcorder battery, which came to 4.4 Hours, which is believable.

So, 202 Hours!!!????!!!! Really? Did I go wrong somewhere here?

Battery flat.

Electronics shop open today but not tomorrow, closes at 5pm today (1:36pm as of writing), I'll get there about 45 min before it closes (currently at work).

Not a huge lot of options. But I'm going to see if I can rig up a simple voltage regulator based on zener diodes and a resistor with 10x AA Eneloop XX's (just under 14.3v total at full charge voltage iirc). They dont have a large variety, the best looks like a 9.1v 1watt zeneor diode, producing a maximum current of 110ma by the looks of it, so I'll stick a bunch in parallel to raise the maximum current output.

The question is, how much max current do I need for powering the GH2? Just need an emergency option without over-volting the camera (what is the highest safe voltage btw? Eneloop XX's provide very stable voltage for what they are).

Otherwise one option is to power regular with regular Eneloops, from testing, high current draw, the voltage sag is minimal, and stable over it's capacity.

In Melbourne CBD, Australia if someone has an alternative thats open till 5pm today

edit: Just read you can't easily put zener diodes in parallel.. well this is annoying
