DMC-G6 incorporates Focus Peaking function that shows the peak of focus in MF and AF+MF mode.

The new DMC-G5 features a 3-inch fold out screen and a top of the line 16-megapixel sensor powered by Panasonic's Venus Engine VII.

G5 is capable of things like full HD video recording and capturing images up to 12,800 ISO.

Also it looks like we have power zoom control near shutter :-)

GH2 screen shuts off?

I have been looking around on this site for a few months and Just purchased a GH2. I am learning how to use the camera and I noticed that when the lcd screen is flipped out, and my hand or something goes close to the back of the camera, it turns the screen off! it is so annoying! i think it is the sensor of the back of the camera thinking that the screen is closed. Is this a common issue? is there a setting in the menu to fix it?

GH2 Stills Problem

Recently I started taking stills with my gh2 in addition to using it for it's AMAZING video.

When I manually focus, whether through the LCD or LVF just before the image is in focus to my eye it looks soft and dreamy more so than out of focus, and beyond the subject it will start to actually look out of focus.

I took some when it actually looked IN FOCUS and I feel like it just doesn't look as sharp as my old Canon 60D (By quite a bit to be honest)

I'll post a picture so you can see. I shot this in manual, f/2.8 at 70mm on a tripod with around 160 shutter speed and 200ISO. I'll post a before and after grade.

Do you think this is an operator, lens, or camera problem?

I am reading through the information about the GH1 not being reliable hacked etc. Is anyone still using the GH1? What hacks are the best and the most reliable? Would you recommend using the GH1 still? I want to shoot multicam projects in the next months and the GH1 would be great to buy 2-3 cause they are so cheap used.

Which Setting is on Auto on GH3?

Hi guys,

I've been having a nightmare on a few recent shoots with my GH3. I'm shooting in manual mode and yet when I pan the lighting sometimes completely changes, as if there's an auto setting kicking in to change the light. It's giving me loads of headaches in post, because a clip that is otherwise well-shot, is suddenly having its lighting completely drop in brightness for example, during a smooth movement.

I've tried to look for this mystery setting to no avail and was wondering if you could help me out with what to look for.

So far I have got: i.Resolution - off Metering mode - center Continuous AF - off

Panasonic G6: overexposes 1 to 2 stops

I am still using 2 good old G6 for a documentary project, but I have an issue (not new) with it. When I choose the exposure through the viewer and it looks fine to me, the result, after transfering to the computer, is an overexposure of 1 to 2 stops easily. Is there anyway to control what the viewer indicates me, so I can do the right exposure straight away? I am using only primelenses (Nokton 25mm, SLR 17.5, Takumar 85mm), so I have the ... "shoot without lens" button selected in G6 menu. Thanks for helping.

Mixing GH4 24P with 23.976 GH3 Footage

I've just got my GH4 and have a shoot coming up this week and would love to use cinema 4K at true 24p. My B camera is a GH3 and I was just wondering if I could mix the GH4's true 24p with the GH3's 23.976fps footage without causing any sync issues etc?

Will that half a frame or so cause problems, what's the best workflow here?

Hello niche pros. =) I'm looking to purchase some old Lumix cameras because I have ton of MFT lenses. I'm only interested in creating interviews in multiple angles. Since I will be traveling back and forth I need it to be 25 and 30p.

So I need to be able to hack new firmwares so that I can surpass 30min as well.

Which Lumix models do you recommend? Nothing fancy, but the best option with pricing. I will purchase 3. Thanks buddies.

GH4 External Vlog White Balance Metadata

Is there a way to view the precise Kelvin reading of GH4 footage in Premiere Pro CC metadata or any other software? The DP shot in varied White Balances in V log External & i need to be able to get the accurate temperature data of the footage he shot on.

Also, i am using Filmconvert (GH4+VLOG) to grade. The WB parameter (in Film Convert) is an offset rather than a setting in my past experience. Would it then actually wreck my clip if i dialed the Film Convert WB parameter over to 3200K from it's default position on Daylight if the footage was shot on 3200K too?

The HDMI output on my GH2 just suddenly died. I'm using 7" Lilliput on it, nothing changed, all of a sudden it just stopped working. First, the monitor just said "no signal" but after some tweaking on/off, it just started to stay black or blue as it was receiving a signal but didn't know what to do with it. An older flat TV says "signal not supported" and a brand new LG doesn't recognize anything. The GH2 clearly thinks it's connected to external monitor, as the on-board screen flickers when connecting, ExTele is disabled, etc., so everything seems normal at that end. Tried different cables and resetted the firmware.. What else to do or try?

Marks on video clips

Hello,

last month I noticed strange marks on my footage. I don't remember to see them before. I am quite sure that is not a camera problem, because I tried to record with two different Panasonic GH 2 cameras, one GH 1 camera and smal HD Panasonic camera. I also tried to change a graphic card and my SD cards, but didn't help. The marks are most visible on white walls in strong sun and on the blue sky. (You can see the marks on the video attached. This two video clips are exported from editing software. On clips I added brightness, contrast and sharpness so you can see better the marks. But the marks are visible also on raw footage)

I checked different topics on Personal view, but the only similar topic I found was Panasonic GH4 glitches/issue from Tjibbe. My problem is similar but it is not really the same.

Any suggestions?

Hi all,

I'm considering upgrading from a GH2, mainly due to the slightly better audio abilities of the GH4 (headphone jack, 3.5mm input). I shoot a tonne of interviews so it would come in handy. I've just got a few questions about the GH4 which I'm finding difficult to find answers on...

FYI: the audio devices I'll be using with the GH4 are the Rode Video Mic Pro or a Sennheiser wireless lapel mic (e3 kit).

Is it possible to adjust audio levels via a function button or some kind of PHYSICAL button on the camera?
If not, is the touch screen audio level adjustment actually useable during shooting or is it very fiddly?
Assuming I buy a GH4 that doesn't have the buzzing issue, is the audio quality acceptable?
Are there any random quirks to the audio of the GH4 I should know about?
Does the GH4 have any issues like the GH2 where the audio levels change slightly once the 'record' button is pressed?
How is the audio level meter? Is it accurate / helpful etc...?

I'd be keen to hear from anyone shooting and recording audio with the GH4 and get their feedback and opinions. It'd be great to ditch the Zoom H4n recorder that I use with the GH2.

I can't seem to find a clear answer on this one. Most people are reporting that they can shoot until their stock battery is completely drained about about an hour and a half. I tested this last week and it seemed to be the case for me as well. However I've rigged up a DC coupler and attached it to a much higher capacity battery expected to record longer and now the camera seems to stop around an hour (within 10 minutes of) before recording stops (camera remains powered on). I also am using a different memory card, could that be the problem (it's a fairly new high end sandisc card)? There's no problem with the video file, and the camera is warm to the touch but I don't think it's overheated. If it might be a card problem, is there a best way to format the card? I've just formatted via the camera.

Combining gh4 Footage and Phantom Drone?

Does anyone here have experience using a GH4 and combining footage with a Phantom 3 Pro or 4? Need a drone and thinking about picking up the Phantom but I am not sure how well the footage will mesh with the GH4, specifically CineD footage.

If they do not complement each other I might consider picking up a cage for my GH4 and selecting another drone. Thanks

Panasonic GX8 and 30p mode

Got a question for fellow GX8 owners. For some reason the 30p video mode is showing combing/interlacing artifacts. I have attached a still frame from a test video and you can clearly see the combing artifacts around my fingers. I know the 30p is shot in PsF in Panasonic cameras, but I've never had a problem, with the G6, GH2, and GX7. Footage from those cameras all come out looking progressive. Anybody else has the same issue?

Olympus Lens compatibility on Panasonic body

I've been offered a job doing real estate videography, and was looking for a wide angle zoom to go with my Panasonic GH2. I'm most interested in the Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 because it would perform better with interior low-light situations over the Panasonic lens with equivalent focal length.

I saw on one lens rental website the following warning: "VERY IMPORTANT: Due to a variety of problems we have encountered, we do not recommend using Olympus lenses for video use with Panasonic micro 4/3 cameras/camcorders. Rent at your own risk."

I'm waiting to hear back from the rental website about what that means. I know that I most likely won't have image stabilization with this setup, but was wondering if there's any dealbreaking incompatibility I should know about for shooting video. I'm hoping this is just needless fear-mongering. I'm probably going to use FlowMotion, and shoot at 1080p 30 fps. Thank you for any assistance.
