Press release

September 17, 2013 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announced the new FUJIFILM X-A1 compact system camera (CSC), the fourth interchangeable lens system camera introduced within the award-winning FUJIFILM X-Series. The ultra-light X-A1 gives consumers an affordable entry point into the X-Series line of digital cameras and delivers outstanding image quality using its large 16.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, easy operation and wireless image transfer for quick photo sharing.

The FUJIFILM X-A1 kit will ship with the FUJINON XC16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS zoom lens. The XC16-50mm is a versatile lens that is ideal for a wide range of photographic subjects, including clear low-light scenes, beautiful portraits and vivid landscapes. The lens consists of 12 all glass elements in 10 groups including 3 aspherical elements and 1 ED element. The lens features seven round-edged aperture blades, which offer 17 stops in 1/3 EV increments for precise aperture control.

Large 16.3 Megapixel APS-C sensor and EXR Processor II

The FUJIFILM X-A1 uses an APS-C sensor and powerful EXR Processor II that captures rich tones, breath-taking dynamic range and stunning low-light images using its extended ISO range of up to 25600. With the X-A1, users can set the sensor sensitivity from ISO200 to as high as ISO6400 in 1/3 step increments, to obtain remarkably clear images even when shooting indoors and at night.

Together with the EXR Processor II, the X-A1 also gives customers fantastic speed with a start-up time of 0.5 seconds2, a shutter time lag of 0.05 seconds and a maximum burst speed of 5.6 frames per second (max. 30 frames3).

Compact performance and advanced features

The X-A1 CSC combines advanced features in a go-anywhere design. The X-A1 weighs just 11.6oz*4 and is about a third of the size of a traditional DSLR body. With a slim profile of 1.3” at its trimmest point, the X-A1 is easily carried anywhere.

The X-A1 also features a 3” tilting high resolution LCD screen with 920,000 dots for easy image viewing and framing at various angles. The 3” LCD monitor tilts at variable vertical angles, facilitating both low-angle and high-angle shots whether on or off a tripod.

The X-A1 uses a built-in high precision flash, with the guide number 7*5, and Super Intelligent Flash technology that uses scene recognition and automatically controls flash strength to reduce highlight clipping.

Easy Image Transfer with WiFi® button

The X-A1 includes a WiFi button that lets users transfer high quality photos and movies*6 to social media sites for easy sharing from the camera to smartphones, tablets and computers.

To connect the X-A1 to a smartphone or tablet, users can download the free dedicated “FUJIFILM Camera Application” to their iPhone™ / iPad™ or Android™ smartphone or tablet device to transfer up to 30 pictures at a time from the X-A1. The app also lets users download movies, expanding the range of options available for enjoying pictures taken with the camera.

Intuitive design and easy operation

The X-A1 has its key operation buttons and dials positioned on the right side of the camera’s rear panel for easy use and quick picture taking. The Mode Dial for selecting the optimum setting for each scene gives access to the Advanced SR Auto function, which automatically recognizes each scene and selects the best settings for sharp and clear images.

The Advanced Filter function and Film Simulation modes give users a range of creative filters and film effects to apply and achieve unique and artistic looks.

The FUJIFILM X-A1 and XC16-50mm (24-76mm) F3.5-5.6 OIS lens (kit) will be available in September 2013 for $599.95 in black and indigo blue

Olympus PEN E-P3, shooting at 25 fps: is there a way??? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7153/olympus-pen-e-p3-shooting-at-25-fps-is-there-a-way Tue, 04 Jun 2013 09:56:11 +0000 Da_Real_Pope 7153@/talks/discussions Hi everyone! I've been roaming the web for a while before coming here to ask this: is there ANY way to make my PEN E-P3 shoot at 25 fps, instead of 29,97? I asked Olympus too, but they just said: the camera can't, bye. (so professional...) I wondered if there was any chance to find a "hacked" firmware letting me set it that way, and wandering around stumbled couple of times in Vitaliy's name. :D I hope this is an "allowed" topic and, if the case, anybody could help me!

Thanks anyone and everyone! ;)

PS. any hack I could find about Olympuses was for near EVERY camera but the E-P3 -.-

RGB Video levels, 16-235? vs 0-255, Olympus OMD http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4431/rgb-video-levels-16-235-vs-0-255-olympus-omd Fri, 31 Aug 2012 06:00:07 +0000 adventsam 4431@/talks/discussions OMD mov video files looked completely blown out c/w GH2 files, so switched levels on media player to 16-235, result! Anybody know why the media players would be expanding the levels from the files, codec or computer h/w problem?

Interestingly the files imported into LR and exported are then perfect levels and playable with any media player without any messing with rgb levels?

Fujifilm X-S1 & X10 Cameras Firmware Patch http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2118/fujifilm-x-s1-x10-cameras-firmware-patch Thu, 26 Jan 2012 20:01:49 +0000 Fenomen 2118@/talks/discussions Of course these are not DSLRs but mirrorless cameras. I am particularly interested in going with the new Fuji Finepix X-S1 2/3-inch sensor 24-624mm zoom advanced digital camera. It records at 1080p30, but unfortunately the video mode is only automatic and the bitrate is probably 17Mb/sec and not even 24Mbit (Fuji would not say).

So, I am curious if anyone here is planning on using the new Fuji X-S1 and X10 cameras, and if there is any way to hope for some patch to boost up their meager capabilities in video mode? Thanks!

EP2 / EPL2 short films vs GF1/2/3 http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4100/ep2-epl2-short-films-vs-gf123 Tue, 31 Jul 2012 12:54:33 +0000 AlbertZ 4100@/talks/discussions I like very much Panasonic GF line, however it's a shame that it's very hard to find short films made with these little camera. This is due to the fact that a Panasonic user prefers to shoot with a GH1/GH2 camera, great video quality indeed. However I am very interested in "compact"and cheapy m43 cameras like GF cams since I love shooting in extreme situations. I have discovered that many young filmmakers have used Olympus PEN in their projects: this is often due to the fact that because Olympus promotes every year 72/48 hour film contest...I was suspiscious at first, however when I've seen some short film realized with PEN ep2 , epl2 etc.. I realized that these cameras could be a good option for "street" and cheap projects...even if the video quality is no doubt worser than gf2 camera, I got the impression that overall quality of PEN, thanks to IS body, is better..

these are some short films I've found on the net..

What do you think about it?

Any reason to keep a E-PL2 body? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2785/any-reason-to-keep-a-e-pl2-body Wed, 04 Apr 2012 22:41:45 +0000 bubba 2785@/talks/discussions This is going on ebay...unless someone can think of a video use for a E-PL2 camera body. I know all the lenses interchange. But ...Is there a use for the in body stabilization in a video project? C cam?

Olympus OM-D EM-5 Questions http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2671/olympus-om-d-em-5-questions Sat, 24 Mar 2012 00:33:20 +0000 APXmusic 2671@/talks/discussions The OM-D EM-5 certainly looks interesting. That 5 Axis image stabilization looks great. I have a few questions for owners of the camera.

Does it have 24p? Does the stabilization work with Panasonic lenses? (i.e. the 7-14mm f4.0 and the 20mm f1.7) Would you use this over your GH2? (If you have one)

This next one is for Vitaliy. Do you plan to hack the firmware for this camera?

Is Fuji X100 firmware encrypted ? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1935/is-fuji-x100-firmware-encrypted- Thu, 05 Jan 2012 09:55:35 +0000 lenuisible 1935@/talks/discussions
I tried googling it, but if some people'd like a X100 hack, I didn't find anyone looking competent in that domain.

@Vitaliy_Kiselev is it easy to see if a firmware is encrypted ?]]>
Official Olympus E cameras topic http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/309/official-olympus-e-cameras-topic Thu, 30 Jun 2011 10:15:56 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 309@/talks/discussions

Since new Olympus cameras become more video oriented it is good thing to make separate topic for them.
Plus three new Olympus lenses seems to be suitable for video shooting.
