The first one had a white spot on the LCD appear a few weeks after I bought it. I didn't do anything about it for a month or so, then I called for warranty repair. I got the RMA number and sent it to them. I got a voice message and called them back. They just wanted to tell me they had received it and give me the work order number.

Two weeks later (today) I called and first they said there was no such work order. I'm not known for my pleasant disposition, so after a brief discussion, they found the work order and said they were waiting for my proof of purchase. More discussion ad they found the proof of purchase. Then he said there was physical damage and the charge would be $325.00 to repair it and I needed to call Texas. I called at 11:06 my time and they aren't open yet.

I'm going to tell them to send it right back to me in the SAME condition I sent it to them in. This is my last fucking Panasonic. At least Canon has always honored their warranties even if the IQ isn't as good.

I know the video is very meh, but the singer liked it so we entered it. Shot with a Gh1, Olympus 14-52mm Mk1, Panny 14mm, and 14-42 kit lens. 75mb max reliability MJPEG for 30p, no grading.

Click like on Youtube please.... EDIT: Everybody please go here http://ipacjinglecontest.com/vote3.html

Scroll down the vote for "Michael Anthony". He's third vid from the bottom of the page right now. You can vote once a day until september.

Help us win $10K!

I'm still new at shooting real people so things I learned on this shoot:

  1. Bring lots of water. 100F Texas days make you thirsty afterwards even if you're too busy during the shoot to remember to drink. Had a hour plus thirsty car ride home.

  2. I was mistaken when I thought 14mm was wide enough. I need wider. At least that Panny converter to make it 11mm.

  3. I need to learn how to grade....fast.

If they can get away with this they can get away with anything.

They listed it in stock Panasonic AG-AC130 AVCCAM HD Handheld Camcorder 5.0 Catalog #: AG-AC130 1/3"-Type 2.2 Mp 3MOS Sensor Integrated 22x (28-616mm Equiv) Lens 3.45" 1920 x 480 LCD Screen AVCHD Professional PH Recording 1080i60/p30/p24 & 720p60 Formats Dual SD/SDHC/SDXC Card Slots DV Recording... Available/In Stock Condition: Brand New Reference # : RC-33967-122 Regular Price: $3,499.00 Our Price: $2,929.0

I checked internet complaints and they weren't too bad but the price was about 300.00 lower than the lowest price elsewhere, so I was skeptical. It also didn't show it as gray market which I was sure it was.

I called, got sales and asked "Is this in stock NOW". The answer..."No, we're sold out and this comes from overseas and is discontinued but I can give you the American version for 4,100.00.

I said "I knew it, bait and switch" I'm not quite sure what he said....but I don't think it was a compliment.

Anyway...I ordered it from Adorama for 3200.00.

I'll learn one of these days

£13tn: hoard hidden from taxman by global elite http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4004/13tn-hoard-hidden-from-taxman-by-global-elite Sun, 22 Jul 2012 05:19:24 +0000 agoltz 4004@/talks/discussions A global super-rich elite has exploited gaps in cross-border tax rules to hide an extraordinary £13 trillion ($21tn) of wealth offshore – as much as the American and Japanese GDPs put together – according to research commissioned by the campaign group Tax Justice Network.

James Henry, former chief economist at consultancy McKinsey and an expert on tax havens, has compiled the most detailed estimates yet of the size of the offshore economy in a new report, The Price of Offshore Revisited, released exclusively to the Observer.

He shows that at least £13tn – perhaps up to £20tn – has leaked out of scores of countries into secretive jurisdictions such as Switzerland and the Cayman Islands with the help of private banks, which vie to attract the assets of so-called high net-worth individuals.

Oil-rich states with an internationally mobile elite have been especially prone to watching their wealth disappear into offshore bank accounts instead of being invested at home, the research suggests. Once the returns on investing the hidden assets is included, almost £500bn has left Russia since the early 1990s when its economy was opened up. Saudi Arabia has seen £197bn flood out since the mid-1970s, and Nigeria £196bn.

"The problem here is that the assets of these countries are held by a small number of wealthy individuals while the debts are shouldered by the ordinary people of these countries through their governments," the report says.

The sheer size of the cash pile sitting out of reach of tax authorities is so great that it suggests standard measures of inequality radically underestimate the true gap between rich and poor. According to Henry's calculations, £6.3tn of assets is owned by only 92,000 people, or 0.001% of the world's population – a tiny class of the mega-rich who have more in common with each other than those at the bottom of the income scale in their own societies.

Assuming the £13tn mountain of assets earned an average 3% a year for its owners, and governments were able to tax that income at 30%, it would generate a bumper £121bn in revenues – more than rich countries spend on aid to the developing world each year.

What I gathered from the few moments of the chat was that they had been discussing the propaganda aspect of the film: meaning Nolan’s less than transparent promoting of support of the Global War on Terror™. Seems like they were debating whether or not it was offensive propaganda targeting the Occupy Movement or if it was just good clean wholesome fun..." - Follow link to read more... http://willyloman.wordpress.com/2012/07/18/boycott-the-batman-nolans-chaotic-clunky-propaganda-machine/

Wabi-sabi http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3872/wabi-sabi Wed, 11 Jul 2012 23:28:10 +0000 stoney 3872@/talks/discussions Probably film-making is Wabi-sabi. Instead of striving for perfection, understanding of imperfection seems more critical.

Wabi-sabi (侘寂) represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete".[1] It is a concept derived from the Buddhist teaching of the three marks of existence (三法印 sanbōin), specifically impermanence (無常 mujō), the other two being suffering (苦 ku) and emptiness or absence of self-nature (空 kū). Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, asperity (roughness or irregularity), simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes.

Private security - "We have nothing to hide" http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3782/private-security-we-have-nothing-to-hide Wed, 04 Jul 2012 18:23:07 +0000 gameb 3782@/talks/discussions Watching a conversation with Julian Assange, Jacob Appelbaum, Andy Mueller-Maguhn and Jeremie Zimmermann on RT.COM

http://assange.rt.com/cypher-punks-episode-eight-pt1/ http://assange.rt.com/cypherpunks-episode-eight-pt2/

about how governments and corporations spying everything what we are doing and this incredible war which is going on, I was worried and I was immediately inspired to take some concrete action.

1) I installed the Tor-Browser-Bundle https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en which enables you to surf anonymously in the internet . It is based on Vidalia, Mozilla and Tor-Button.

“The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.”

2) I also installed the Tor-Mail, same idea, anonymous mailing

3) I changed my searching machine to DuckDuck Go, same idea, anonymous searching

I was frightened by the words of Michael Chertoff, 4 years of Bush Administration in Homeland Security and now in charge of Cyber-Security with Obama, when he said in an Al Jazeera documentary called “Cyberwar”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ciAqopNRL0U

“… clearly for certain kinds of interaction you need to know who you are dealing with, and people who are not willing to verify their identity, will simply be refused in minutes.”

“Historically the internet was anonymous – this will have to change.”

“It is dangerous out there… new weapons must be invented”.

It is a frightening scenario. It all looks to me like the US are targeting their next war/fear/economy- syndrome to prepare the ground for their new “war”. They want to control this war and get prepared for this new market. 40-50 Billions are ready to be invested in this area of “cyber-security” – a huge privat sector is waiting to make a lot of money.

I would like to share my concerns, I think it is a very worrying and urgent matter.

And also, is it any useful to install all these Tor applications?
