I have had the 12mm 1.6 on order from fotokonijnenberg since mid January, thinking that it may arrive by April 3rd when I'm off to California for a bit of a road trip, now they tell me delivery is due mid April! So anyway I am looking for a wide lens, thought about the upcoming Panasonic wide adapter.. that is also now April release.. (you can see a theme here!) So the Olympus 12mm f2 has been on my radar for a while.. except for the price.. but when looking more closely Olympus has a deal on at the mo in the UK.. can get £185 cash back for the 12mm and also Amazon offers another £30 voucher with the 12mm f2 which means £390 / $620 aprox.

Now I really do like the look of the 12mm 1.6 (flare I could get used to) and I like the 12mm f2 apart from the fact that it is so very sharp.. I like the rendering of fd lenses through my experiments. I just wondered about other's experiences with either the 12mm (f2 or 1.6) or other alternative wide options? Has anyone tried the 12mm f2 with Sedna C or blackmist?

Interested in any wide thoughts :)

UPDATE - On closer inspection the cashback for lenses is only if you've bought a camera... Back to the drawing board! Still interested in peoples thoughts on wide angle for the GH2 :)

Yep. You read it correctly. This is the one and only Tokina Achromat +0.4 diopter. I got this a month ago but have to sell stuff as I need money :) have not used this on a shoot. Just tested it out twice and put it back in box.

gh2 pal vs ntsc and where to buy

I'm coming round to the idea of getting the GH2, lowest price in aus I can find is around $1200AUD (roughly on parity with USD). This is the most widely priced camera I've ever looked at: I've seen it as low as $600 to $2000 body only.

With the hack, do I need a PAL version (i'd planned to shoot at 25/50p)?

I can get it for about $1200 on ebay from HK with the 14-140.

Have my old trusty Cavision bellows matte box w/ rods connection bracket up for grabs. Two slots for 4x4 filters, one stage rotates.

I ended up shortening the two small rods that extend the bellows (as seen in pic) since the longer rods were hitting my support for my DSLR when I used the 7D/GH2 with the camera. Should not pose a problem as it has worked perfectly with my FS100 and lens package from 18mm-150mm.

The rotating stage sticks a bit, but you just have to make sure the 4x4 filter is seated correctly. I'm also missing a thumb screw that cinches the MB to the rails, though that is easily replaced at a hard ware store...and I never bothered since the MB stays where it is on my rails without sliding.

I'll also throw in for free a Schneider 4x4 circular tru pol. It's got a small crack running through it from my dumb ass dropping it on set a week ago. We still ended up shooting with it out of necessity, and the crack did not appear on any of the footage. I replaced it with a new one, and it just seems wrong to throw this out. They go for $245 at the moment as well.

Brand new, sparkling clean SLR Magic 12mm/f1.6 lens. I bought this a little over a week ago directly from the manufacturer in China. If you're not familiar with SLR Magic, do a quick search on them. They are making some very fine lenses and this one is no exception. It is a solid, well-built lens with a fluid (click-free) f-stop ring. The only reason I am getting rid of it is because it is a bit too wide (equivalent to a 24mm on a full frame sensor) for the project I'm working on. I opted for a 17mm instead.

I'm asking $500 + shipping for it. Yes, that is the same price as buying it from Ebay however you'll save yourself well over $100 in shipping and customs fees. So, it is quite a deal I think. Let me know what you think!
