I don't know shit about what your work around film mode consist in, but maybe it could help to compare them with official firmware (as I think colors is the only change).

I hope to be getting a GH2 soon and I've seen great progress and amazing results from 1080p @ 24p. However, since I use a lot of 60p @ 720p for slow motion shots I was wondering if there are any good patches that will achieve the amazing results of 1080p for the 720p slow motion? Ideally I'd like a high bit rate which produces really nice sharp slow motion, the kind of sharp image you get from 1080p.

Therefore are there any good patches for 720p at 60p? If there isn't any patches could I possibly change the bitrate and GOP myself and still achieve better 720p than the stock firmware? I will be using a Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s.

Why?
Not being able to monitor audio -easily- is a very big deal. I know there are work-arounds that help, with added gear and cabling, but this leans hard against something quite valuable... SIMPLICITY. Great shots and people don't wait for gear to get setup and for every added piece of equipment and connector comes risks that can make shots completely worthless. (this is so painful when it happens)

Thank you very much. I love everything this group is doing for the camera. You are creating something truly spectacular! But rats, this monitoring issue just makes me sad. I may have to buy a lesser camera... and really don't want to.

When you open pTool and load the firmware, at the bottom you should see a letter somewhere between A and J in green, click it. This now loads the presets. NOW click "Version Increment" (first option in the option tree). Then change the Increment to something such as 10.

The key issue here is that I was changing the Version Increment BEFORE clicking the presets. Ptool3d, gh1_132 from panasonic, and setb from blackout all in one folder on my desktop.
I open ptool, load the 132 firmware and not one letter towards the bottom of ptool becomes green.

very frustrated, at a stand still, ready to donate when I get the hack working.

This is my first post but have been lurking for quite a while now. I love my hacked GH2 so much that I bought a second one and really starting to get into video. I'm having an issue but also could be that I am over looking something.

I applied the newest hack to the GH2 to bump up the ISO to 12800. However, when I go to do any video, I need to be in the movie mode in order to get the benefit of using this high ISO. I'd like to also have this ability while in M (manual) mode but it doesn't seem to be working right. In M, I can set the ISO to 12800 but for some reason, it doesn't apply when I start to record a video and only applies to still shots.

I'm using the SanDisk Extreme Pro 95mbs 16 gig cards, so how many minute will I get recording in 1080 24p? I also have the 30mbs 32 gig cards as well.

I have heard Cinema style is the best to shoot in for music video but I just need the other settings like Smooth and so on.
I have applied the 65mbs hack (v11) only and now cant seem to find my shutter speed button?
Please help with any advice,

The body had original firmware v1.0; I tried to install the hack firmware several times but the camera never detect the hacked firmware on the SD card after "play" button was pushed (thus, did not give me the option to update).
I decided to install Panasonic's newest (12/7/11) firmware v1.1.
As expected, my GH-2 detects Panasonic v1.1 firmware immediately and updated successfully, first try.
After playing around with Pana v1.1 firmware for few minutes, I decided to go back and install the hacked firmware that I could not do before.
To my surprise, it worked! So now I have v1.0 (hacked) on my GH-2.

Now I went to stock settings (original GH2) for MJPEG with 25 fps, worked. So loaded the LPOWELL 100mbps/night 1080p settings, added 25 fps changed, works on my GH2. I'm not sure if it's merely dropping 5 frames out of every second (don't think it is). But if you shoot 1/25th, not sure if that it'd matter?



I'll try to examine it at some point with some linear motion at fixed speed, and look for 'jumps' in space.

My test file is reported as 75,697 kbps. Or 74 mbps. Which would be 88.7 mbps @ 30 fps, at the same average size/compression per frame. Available recording time is reported as 3m 12s. Recording on a Transcend 32gb class 10.

Test file was shot at ISO 2500, probably a stop underexposed still by the looks, just messing around in indoor light.


I'll do some slow panning on a monopod tomorrow with shutters @ and greater than 1/30th, and upload that.


Also I have gotten sizes a bit above 1080p working fine before too, which is useful I think for stabilising software if (such as deshaker) if you can shooter slightly wider than you want/need, so you don't have to blow up (or blow up as much) back to 1080p frame size for a 1080p output workflow. I was wondering how much footage a 16GB card would hold (figured I'd be better off getting several 16GB then 32GB and keep copying the data to a laptop during a shoot).

Been looking at the 16GB SanDisk Extreme Pro (45mbs).

I'm guessing this also largely depends on which settings I will end up using. I'd be shooting at 1080p. Seems like 42mbit is popular but I've been seeing a lot of 176mbit popping up lately.

Odd thing is though, suddenly my white balance button and and iso button don't work and go to focus set up when I hit them, even though I have everything set to manual... I can change the other hard function buttons but I can't seem to get the white balance button to work as it should (go to white balnce menu) nor the iso hard button. I am having to use the touch screen which I don't care for.

Anyone on how I fix this?

This is my first post here but I´ve been playing alot with ALL versions of Ptools since it got available!
So THANKS ALOT VK!

The other day I got the chance to play with the new version of Ptools and tick the "ISO Limit Removement" check box.
The patch is not working well and saw some strange things...
All looked right as ever in the ISO area in ( Creative Movie mode). You can select the ISO you want but when you
you press the recording button, the camera inmediatelly passes to AUTO ISO mode, so the ISO value you selected is not working anymore.
I perceived some strange behaivour as well. When I changed shutter speed to high values as 100/s and above to 4000/s
all looking right but just pressing recording button the picture brightness starts to oscilate constantly...

Hope this helps to the hack improvement!
