Persistent rumors and people very close to DJI have informed us that the DJI Phantom 5 has been canceled. The product manager responsible for the Phantom 5, of which we have seen various prototypes with interchangeable lenses earlier, has been reassigned to another DJI project.

My source in sales channel old that this can be truth. As DJI all last months try to hike average selling drone price. Also Phantom average life between major repairs is much higher compared to Mavic, and company does not like this. He told that DJI management specially talked to largest retailers assuring them that they do anything possible to make drones live shorter times and have higher prices, so it'll be more profits for bott of them.

Smart Controller Expands Pilot Options

The DJI Smart Controller expands the ecosystem of accessories built around DJI's industry leading drone technology. Using a crisp 5.5" screen built into the controller itself, the Smart Controller allows pilots to quickly get their drone in the air without the need to connect a mobile device. It can be paired with DJI's newest drones including Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic 2 Pro[1] which use DJI's OcuSync 2.0 video transmission system, displaying vivid images in Full HD resolution. On December 22, 2018 Indemnis successfully passed the ASTM F3322-18 standard testing matrix. The technical standard is designed to enable safe flight operations over people on small unmanned aerial vehicles while using a parachute as a risk mitigation device. The Nexus has been validated against the requirements of the standard and is the first and only parachute recovery system in the world to become certified and compliant in meeting the requirements of the standard.

The testing was conducted in controlled airspace at the Griffiss International Airport in Rome, NY. The Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research Alliance (NUAIR) oversaw at the testing and instigated each failure in a concealed fashion, to avoid any potential anticipation of the test.

The standard specification contains a series of 45 functionality tests across 5 different failure scenarios, that are designed to validate proper parachute system deployment and canopy inflation within the full flight envelope of the aircraft.
