Guess we need new sensors now

A new study corrects an important error in the 3D mathematical space developed by the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Erwin Schrödinger and others, and used by scientists and industry for more than 100 years to describe how your eye distinguishes one color from another. The research has the potential to boost scientific data visualizations, improve TVs and recalibrate the textile and paint industries.

"The assumed shape of color space requires a paradigm shift," said Roxana Bujack, a computer scientist with a background in mathematics who creates scientific visualizations at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Bujack is lead author of the paper by a Los Alamos team in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on the mathematics of color perception.

"Our research shows that the current mathematical model of how the eye perceives color differences is incorrect. That model was suggested by Bernhard Riemann and developed by Hermann von Helmholtz and Erwin Schrödinger—all giants in mathematics and physics—and proving one of them wrong is pretty much the dream of a scientist," said Bujack.

Here in Peru we have almost all things to survive, and I’m planing to make a international survival group here welcoming foreigners and nationals to make a community and gather power for our self's in Cusco sacred Urubamba valley of the Incas.

The nature of my country, politically, economically geographically, and demographically is ideal for this kind of plans.

PERU CAN NOT BE CONQUERED NEITHER CONTROLLED AND IN REAL LIFE HISTORICALLY HAS NEVER BEEN.

It’s geography culture and demography is so diverse that the state doesn’t have the reach and controll and the corrupt nature of its state make this a doable idea . It’s like trying to control Siberia… can be done but it’s very expensive and better leave it alone.

I know it sound crazy now, but in 2 years this thread I hope not, will be full of ideas and support if things go real wrong.

We only have each other at the end of times and those whose really won’t but the new system or will be killed or expelled.

I leave this open to suggestions and ideas.

Better be ready that never.

Panasonic and Leica announced Tuesday a “new comprehensive business alliance” that will unify the strengths of long-time collaborators Leica and Lumix, combining each other’s technologies and expertise on new projects and products.

Both companies said they have agreed to increasingly share their core competencies and to develop new technologies and solutions through a new business affiliation called “L² Technology ” (L squared Technology), which symbolically uses the two “Ls” of “ Leica ” and “Lumix ” to denote their marketing collaboration going forward.

“L2 Technology will unify the strengths of two brands, Leica and Lumix, be a symbol of the collaboration by combining the technologies and know-how of the two companies in the fields of new camera and lens products and next generation software, and create technologies and solutions that deliver new value in the new era. Through this collaboration, both companies will be able to maximize the synergies by Leica’s optical and imaging technology and Panasonic’s video and digital technology that have been cultivated over many years in the camera and imaging market, and jointly explore new creativity and expressive power. They will continue to develop innovative L² Technology that will create a new imaging world,” the announcement said.

It seems like marketing departments just needed to publish something to get their inflated salaries :-)

Mergers: Sony bought Bungie http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/26664/mergers-sony-bought-bungie Mon, 31 Jan 2022 18:50:57 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 26664@/talks/discussions

Sony is purchasing Bungie - the U.S. video game developer behind the popular Destiny franchise.

Buying Bungie will give Sony one of the most popular first-person shooter games to compete with the massive Call of Duty series, which Sony’s main rival now owns through Activision.

Bellevue, Washington-based Bungie, founded in 1991, helped put the Xbox on the map with the Halo franchise and was purchased by Microsoft in 2000. In 2007, the studio negotiated its independence and spun out from Microsoft to work on its next big thing, Destiny, with Activision. That relationship ended in 2019 and Bungie began self-publishing and operating Destiny independently.

"Bungie has created and continues to evolve some of the world’s most beloved videogame franchises and, by aligning its values with people’s desire to share gameplay experiences, they bring together millions of people around the world,” Kenichiro Yoshida, the president and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, said in a statement.

“We will utilize the Sony Group’s diverse array of entertainment and technology assets to support further evolution of Bungie and its ability to create iconic worlds across multiple platforms and media.”

“Both Bungie and [Sony Interactive Entertainment] believe that game worlds are only the beginning of what our IP will become. Our original universes have immense potential and, with SIE’s support, we will propel Bungie into becoming a global multi-media entertainment company dedicated to delivering on our creative vision,” Parsons, who is also the CEO of Bungie, added.

Syrp was built from a foundation of filmmaking, photography, and innovation. Starting in 2012 from Kickstarter we set out to re-think motion control from the ground up developing the Genie for motion video and timelapse; we brought smooth motion control to the masses with a focus on design and portability.

Fast forward 10 years and we’ve continued along this path expanding our motion control line releasing sliders, mobile apps and accessories to create a full ecosystem of products for today’s creators all the while rigorously iterating from feedback from our internal and external film team.

In 2019 our journey went a step further as we joined the Vitec Group, working alongside leading video and photographic brands such as Manfrotto, Lowepro, Gitzo and JOBY to expand our footprint and invest further into R&D.

Now as we approach 2022, we are taking our next step in this evolution as we continue to intertwine our internal content team with our R&D team to create a unique approach for innovation and product development.

In 2022, we will become Syrp Lab. A center for innovation and content creation, expanding our team and working closely together to create the next generation of tools for creators, plugging in our ideas and R&D expertise into the brands that make up Vitec Imaging Solutions. Our team will not only focus on product development but also educating creators about how to use tools to create the absolute best content in the form of a dedicated YouTube channel and accompanying education website.

With this new approach we will emerge with a greater focus and energy on creating new disruptive tools, hyper-focused on user-centered design and best-in-class products for the end user. As a result, over the coming months you will notice our logo changing to Syrp Lab with a refined brand, website and social channels coupled with an all-new education channel.

So what does this mean for you as an existing Syrp customer?

As part of this journey and re-brand to Syrp Lab, our products will transition to be under the Manfrotto umbrella from both a branding and purchasing point of view, in order for us to be fully focused on the new Syrp Lab vision. Syrp products will become a part of the Manfrotto Move ecosystem, a series of supports, motion control and stabilizers that seamlessly work together to enable you to create faster than ever before. The Syrp app will also transition to Manfrotto in order to create a unified end user experience across all products.

Going forward Syrp products will still be developed and supported by exactly the same team based in Auckland, New Zealand led by the same founders, and we will continue to be available through support and other channels in order to bring you the best motion tools on the planet.

If you are an existing owner of Syrp products your warranty will automatically be transferred to Manfrotto. Furthermore, you will have access to an expanded and localized support team globally making it much easier to get hold of support and accessories when required.

Ricoh Imaging Co., Ltd. (President: Noboru Akahane) will renew the manufacturing and sales system in Japan for the digital camera business on April 1, 2022. We will build a new business structure that enhances the two brand values of PENTAX and GR, connects directly with customers by making full use of "digital" methods, and further sharpens and deepens the attractiveness of both brands through "workshop-like" manufacturing. ..

Message from Noboru Akahane, President and CEO

Until now, we have been doing business while feeling the strong feelings of our customers for the PENTAX and GR brands. While I would like to respond to that desire as much as possible, I feel that the conventional method based on mass production and mass sales is becoming less accustomed to the recent changes in the market environment.

But the activity of people taking pictures, sharing them, and having fun is rather endless. We will take on new paths together with our customers while politely responding to such diversified needs of our customers.

Ricoh Imaging takes on "two challenges".

  1. Get close to customers by making full use of "digital" methods
  2. Realize "workshop-like" manufacturing

Beyond the conventional wisdom, we believe in the strong feelings of our customers for both PENTAX and GR brands, and will develop as a manufacturer that walks together and creates together.

Strengthening relationships with customers by making full use of "digital" methods and "workshop-like" manufacturing (delivering what you want to those who want it. Enhancing user communication)

We will strengthen the online / offline contact points between Ricoh Imaging and our customers more than ever, and build a co-creation community that connects with each customer and activates mutual communication.

In the future, we will expand opportunities for customers all over Japan to experience a wide range of PENTAX / GR cameras and products.

[PENTAX brand]

PENTAX has gained the support of customers, mainly single-lens reflex cameras. We will expand the range of various customizations to further reflect the needs of our customers and provide workshop value. In addition, we will build a system that enables manufacturing together with customers from the product planning stage through communication through online fan meetings.

[GR brand]

GR sticks to the concept of "the strongest snap shooter" and pursues the universal value of snaps. We will make a clear distinction from the spec competition, thoroughly pursue optimization for snapshot shooting, and propose cameras that are particular about high image quality, operability, and portability. In order to connect directly with customers and create a snap culture, we will focus on revitalizing the fan community through social media and interacting through offline events to strengthen two-way relationships.

Shift to "digital" sales methods and "workshop-like" production

(strengthening Ricoh imaging stores, opening directly managed malls in major marketplaces)

We will shift from a sales method centered on the distribution network via retail stores to sales via the Internet to improve the efficiency of business operations. In addition to our own EC direct sales site, we will develop directly managed malls in major marketplaces to expand opportunities and places where Ricoh Imaging and customers can directly connect.

In addition, by utilizing digital sales methods, we can grasp the demand of the market in more detail and realize the optimum production that is different from the conventional mass production / mass sales model. At the same time, by directly contacting customers, we aim to reflect customer feedback in manufacturing more than ever and provide products that are more attractive to customers.

  • Strengthening the Ricoh Imaging Store (EC direct sales site) As the brand value of PENTAX and GR deepens, we will enhance independent content and utilize it as a place for two-way communication with customers.
  • Opening directly managed mallsin major marketplaces We will open directly managed malls for PENTAX and GR in major marketplaces on the Internet. By doing so, we will increase the points of contact with our customers and expand their purchasing opportunities and opportunities for communication.

Really quite a lot of issues including related to external power and the strange Photo/Video switch with Off in the middle, that requires a reboot when switching modes.

I doubt Canon will be making very many of them due to the current chip shortage and lack of vital raw materials such as magnesium.

I would much rather shoot Blackmagic RAW than Canon Cinema RAW Lite as editing performance of that in Resolve sucks.

QD-OLED Samsung panels are bright and have very wide color gamut http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/26617/qd-oled-samsung-panels-are-bright-and-have-very-wide-color-gamut Tue, 11 Jan 2022 05:09:19 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 26617@/talks/discussions image

Samsung's QD-OLED TV panel key specifications have been disclosed by SGS (certifying). The new panels are capable of delivering over 1000 nits of peak brightness and displaying over 90% of the BT.2020 color space - both well above the specifications available for OLED panels already on the market.

QD-OLEDs are different from the regular panels LG Display has produced for quite some time. The latter use WRGB OLED - a combination of light from blue and yellow sources is passed through filters to create red, green and blue subpixels, as well as their tints. Newer TVs also use non-filtered white light sources to boost brightness - especially with HDR content.

QD-OLED emits blue light through so-called "quantum dots" that can convert it to red and green without the need for filters. Thanks to this, part of the light is not "lost" in the filters, which makes it possible to increase the brightness of the image and the energy efficiency of displays in comparison with classic OLEDs. In addition, even at peak brightness, distinct color rendition is maintained, while WRGB OLEDs under similar conditions discolor somewhat. In addition, the viewing angles, which are already quite large for OLEDs, are even higher for QD-OLEDs.
