I'm assuming they aren't actually making it, they've just partnered with a foundry and fab to make something to their own design...but.....No examples of images or specs...Why aren't they making their own camera? The expensive and hard bit is the sensor....

After a well though process, i make the choice of getting the FX3. Same as FX6 for me, since i know i can do with that sensor. What i like over other cameras of its range are mainly 2 things. The ability to record high frame rate at real 10 bit 4:2:2 at 600mbps and the S&Q mode for even higher frames at 1080p 240p. The other was the high dynamic range of the sensor at any frame-rates and at many iso. Very consistent 14 stops overall on different ISO levels. Overall size performance i think is very good.

It has a more organic character than other sony 4k sensors, less resolution for what i see. I like the look since depends very much on lenses in this sensor, you can really tell.

Downers for me, is the iso noise performance, and the complexity of video formats for different results. You cant use XAVC HS for the same shot as XAVC 4k and XAVC HD I all react differently at S&Q mode, there is more noise and lower quality but you get diferente cadence and behavior.

its like the camera had almost 4avc modes x2, movie mode, and S&Q mode, that is like 8 type of personalities. Each setting behave VERY differently from each other. ITS never getting consistent results switching from different modes affects grain structure and compression too much, specially noise behaviour.

Also Batery life is very poor, and it does heat a lot even though you have the fan active all the time, specially at S&Q mode.

I can be sure, that this affects very much noise structure on the sensor level and does affect low quality S&Q modes cos bad cache and real time compression of high frame rates.

Overall the performance is for me best sensor for the price since final color can be tweaked for better performance all around. It doesn't match the black magic color Depth and quality but online there si no such a difference when using RAW output.

memory IS EXPENSIVE, but needed if you want maximum quality since it works as cache for processing high output.

Some work ive done this weeks past two weeks. Its difficult to nail low light low noise and good DR, you looses alot of resolution at 1080p 240p

CONCLUSIONS:

The image finally looks compressed. Not like Panasonic S-series, which its clolors is close to Blackmagic cameras in final image. Its not bad AT ALL, but since arri fuck as all long time ago, and Black magic is the nearest in looks, sony is the one that looks the least "cinematic" even though technically is a grate camera.

Not a bad choice for exactly what my reasons where behind its acquisition. Big flexibility, very compact body, high Dynamic range, full frame, high frame rate, real 10 bit. Im planing on entering more the table top and visual engineering side of business, and this is a grate choice for a good start for what will become eventually a phantom flex, with a bolt arm attached and 2 engineers problem solving different shootings.

Decided to buy it. Live stream video I just did while hooked up to the GH6. Camera setting on fully automatic. A lot of reviews out their about using it as a monitor but almost nothing about the live streaming capabilities so here's my experience.

You can record 1080p60 to the phone but for livestreaming, it's going to YouTube as 1080p30 for some reason. I told the company about that days ago and they said they'd look into it. They announced that the device will be getting an update with some improvements and I hope 1080p60 streaming become part of it. I checked the upload speed for my phone before I started shooting and was getting about 90 to 100Mbps and so I was able to choose the highest bit rate on the device which is 30. The video quality is decent but as for the audio, its not as great. I'm hearing some clicking sounds. Not sure why that is.

For streaming, you need to get on YouTube using a phone web browser to set your title and description. You'll also need to copy the stream key and then paste it into the SeeMo app. It's a simpler process if you live stream with your phone using the Live Now app. With that said, they said they'll allow other app makers to make the product compatible with their app. Live now would be a good candidate since your able to stream in 4K with your phone. Just by using the YouTube app, your only limited to 720p.

Because Apple decided to still use an ancient lightning port on the iPhone 14 Pro, your not able to have external power going from the device to the phone. You'd need to get a Magsafe charger.

I'm going to IFA in Berlin this week. Not as reporter this time, but I'll try to see if there are some fun things regardless. I'll go by car from Norway so it's a packaged road trip, shopping, show visit and Berlin sightseeing all at once.

I have in the past visited IFA more or less every time since 1994. But long gone are the physical format wars of the past: SD/MMCD, DVD-A/SACD, HD-DVD/Blu-ray. Which sort of made the show a fun place. Also, these days you find mostly anything online. In the past you got home with 20 kgs of paper, photos and slides to read.

These days IFA become focused on cell phone accessories to a large extent. And the domestic appliances for cooking and washing. But after some years of covid19 hiatus, it looks like many of the older halls surrounding the west Berlin tv-tower is empty.

I'll try to post some images here during the weekend after my visit on friday.

A new study corrects an important error in the 3D mathematical space developed by the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Erwin Schrödinger and others, and used by scientists and industry for more than 100 years to describe how your eye distinguishes one color from another. The research has the potential to boost scientific data visualizations, improve TVs and recalibrate the textile and paint industries.

"The assumed shape of color space requires a paradigm shift," said Roxana Bujack, a computer scientist with a background in mathematics who creates scientific visualizations at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Bujack is lead author of the paper by a Los Alamos team in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on the mathematics of color perception.

"Our research shows that the current mathematical model of how the eye perceives color differences is incorrect. That model was suggested by Bernhard Riemann and developed by Hermann von Helmholtz and Erwin Schrödinger—all giants in mathematics and physics—and proving one of them wrong is pretty much the dream of a scientist," said Bujack.
