People are always comparing the fz1000 to the fz200, but I think the hx400 might be another reasonable superzoom choice. The Sony has the GP-VPT1 control grip and hotshoe mic Sony ECM-XYST1M. I've been searching for a 24p sample but no luck. A 50x power zoom lens....and shoots 1080/24p. Any thoughts ?

So the fs700 does 240fps at 1080p for $6k+... Is it really true that - two years later - there exists no camera that can do it at 720p at a lower cost? Why is that?

So a good friend of mine just had his first baby. He asked me to help him find a good camera in the $300 to $350 price range so he can capture those baby pictures and video. I have being looking. If you know something good and reliable, let me know. I am sure something with an OK zoom range too will be a plus. His has no experience working with cameras so this will be his first camera too beside smart phone.

Smallest/Lights AP Point and Shoot Camera Reco's?

I've been on the fence about a Sony RX100 M3, but haven't really sold myself on it. I am wanting something as compact as possible, that takes sharp autofocus stills, but can also shoot great HD video. My objective is to build a super solid micro AP rig, in the form of a Blackout Spider Hex quad. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/09/uze8utuv.jpg) I may build a gimbal setup on rails that sling beneath the hex, but that will be figured out once i figure out what my optimal camera will be. I'm looking under 300 grams, but under 250 grams would be even better.

I have been a long time lurker here since buying a GH2 years ago and trying lots of patches you guys did shitloads of hard work to provide, and have come to love the options of a hackable camera provides. I would def. say spoiled by the GH2 patch community. I was about to settle on the new RX100 when I came across the Panasonic ZS line of cameras which seam about 50 grams lighter than the Sony's w/ a 16MP resolution similar to my old GH2, can't tell if hacks exist for any panasonic point and shoots though. does anyone know of any?

What do folks here use, or what would you prefer in the smaller compact point-and-shoot options. Would you steer me away from the RX100 M3 for something more hackable?

I've looked into the canon CHDK stuff too, and that is really neat, I just don't think I know of a canon that compares to the IQ of the RX100, or possibly that a ZS40 for example.

Hi, recently i bought a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition camera with a SanDisk 32GB microSD card, and besides all the problems with the camera (freezing, not enought bus and stoping the camera, color changes in the same room/light in camraw protune filming mode, buttons doingwhattheywantanytime) suddenly it stops working and a "SD ERROR" appear in the screen so i plug it to my Mac to reformat it (the camera doesn't allow me to do that) and my Mac says it has no format and when i tryed to give a new format in only appears a 32MB (not GB) partition wich i tryed to format and doens't allow me in any case (i tryes it infinietly) so what i'm trying to do before i go to the shop where i bought the card and the camera is to completly erase all information as i use the card first to save passwords and sensitive information but as i can not access the card, how can i do this? any manual method to completly erase the card? (like magnetic o electric charges) i don't want to return the card to the store with this info inside it and i just bought it 2 weeks ago... Any ideas? Thanks.

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 3 and it is the most advanced device in the Korean company's smartphone line-up yet.

It comes with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor for the LTE 4G version or a 1.9GHz octa-core Samsung processor for regions locked to 3G services, plus 3GB of RAM. The 5.7-inch super AMOLED screen offers a Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. And the device will come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean from the off.

As rumoured, 4K video recording is possible thanks to the presence of the Snapdragon 800 processor. Hello the galaxy note 3 (n9005) was a hacker and can now elevate the flow of his 4k codec.h264 has 100Mbs or more I talk to them they would even try to grow more, I suggest their 200mbs ... But the phone will need to be rooter and it voids the warranty and the operation is not very easy ...

Panasonic HC-V700 Camcorder Review

I bought the Panasonic HC-v700 Camcorder based on this review:

For me the 1080/60p and the telemacro mode are the two best things about this camcorder.

I shoot for Microstock and Vimeo, I can't tell you a codex from a follow-focus. I point/shoot and hope it looks good.

The 1080/60i mode has weird interlaced kinda lines, not sure if it's my workflow or what.

I've owned the GH1, Sony A55, Nikon P500 and Gopro Hero2 and this Camcorder produces a better image.

Here's a Time Lapse I shot, just sped-up to 800% in Motion5.

Grizzly shot a full zoom, slowed from 60p to 30p.

I just thought that I would let everyone know that CHDK has an alpha version for the Canon Elph 300 HS. I tried the video and although there is still no exposure lock the video rate can go up to 95 Mbit/sec if not more.
