People are always comparing the fz1000 to the fz200, but I think the hx400 might be another reasonable superzoom choice. The Sony has the GP-VPT1 control grip and hotshoe mic Sony ECM-XYST1M. I've been searching for a 24p sample but no luck. A 50x power zoom lens....and shoots 1080/24p. Any thoughts ?

Is it really true that - two years later - there exists no camera that can do it at 720p at a lower cost? Why is that?

PXW-X160 is equipped with a variable ND Filter function, allowing you to choose either four conventional mechanical ND filter positions or the linear control dial. The optical filter changes the density electrically, allowing the light amount to be reduced more conveniently. The density can be changed gradually and fluidly. Different from conventional optical ND filters, the ND filter on the PXW-X160 can be controlled from 1/4ND to 1/128ND linearly.

Smallest/Lights AP Point and Shoot Camera Reco's? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10496/smallestlights-ap-point-and-shoot-camera-recos- Fri, 30 May 2014 21:46:48 +0000 deathtoprint 10496@/talks/discussions I've been on the fence about a Sony RX100 M3, but haven't really sold myself on it. I am wanting something as compact as possible, that takes sharp autofocus stills, but can also shoot great HD video. My objective is to build a super solid micro AP rig, in the form of a Blackout Spider Hex quad. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/09/uze8utuv.jpg) I may build a gimbal setup on rails that sling beneath the hex, but that will be figured out once i figure out what my optimal camera will be. I'm looking under 300 grams, but under 250 grams would be even better.

I have been a long time lurker here since buying a GH2 years ago and trying lots of patches you guys did shitloads of hard work to provide, and have come to love the options of a hackable camera provides. I would def. say spoiled by the GH2 patch community. I was about to settle on the new RX100 when I came across the Panasonic ZS line of cameras which seam about 50 grams lighter than the Sony's w/ a 16MP resolution similar to my old GH2, can't tell if hacks exist for any panasonic point and shoots though. does anyone know of any?

What do folks here use, or what would you prefer in the smaller compact point-and-shoot options. Would you steer me away from the RX100 M3 for something more hackable?

I've looked into the canon CHDK stuff too, and that is really neat, I just don't think I know of a canon that compares to the IQ of the RX100, or possibly that a ZS40 for example.

PR

Nikon Inc. announced the new COOLPIX S810c, which combines Nikon’s powerful camera imaging technologies and the vast capabilities of the AndroidTM Operating System (OS). Whether photographing friends dancing into the night or fast-action sports, the 16.0-megapixel COOLPIX S810c helps users never again settle for sharing a sub-par cell phone photo to their social networks.

"The COOLPIX S810c combines the best parts of a Nikon camera and the limitless possibilities of the Android Operating System, so users can seamlessly integrate their digital lives with their creative passions," said Masahiro Horie, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. "Nikon COOLPIX S810c users will be able to stay connected and share everyday moments with ease through Full HD video and amazing stills."

Capture and Share Photos, Without Sacrificing Image Quality

The new Nikon COOLPIX S810c provides users with the power to capture high quality images in low-light or from a distance, delivering the results that would otherwise be a challenge to capture with a smartphone. The COOLPIX S810c features a 16.0-megapixel, backside illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor for excellent low-light ability, and a 12x optical zoom NIKKOR lens (with24x Dynamic Fine Zoom) to get the sharp shots from up close or far away. Further bolstering the low-light capability of the S810c, the camera has an ISO range up to 3200, as well as Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction (VR) to help banish blurry photos, even while shooting handheld. To capture those special moments, the camera also has a fast continuous shooting mode.

Stay Connected, Share Effortlessly With Built-in Wi-Fi®

Whether liking a status or tagging a photo, COOLPIX S810c users can seamlessly share their most memorable moments with friends and family with the AndroidTM 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Operating System. When accessing Google Play™, users have access to endless apps including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many other apps where they can share photos and stay connected. With the Android OS, users can surf the web, read their latest emails, browse through their friends’ photos and videos, navigate with maps as well as many other functions offered by Android apps. The built-in Wi-Fi capabilities of the S810c provide a simple way to directly share photos instantly with friends and family. When no external Wi-Fi network is available, users can also connect to a compatible smartphone or tablet via the dedicated "Connect to S810c" app1 in order to transfer, share and view their images on that smart device. Additionally, the COOLPIX S810c has built-in GPS for location-based apps, as well as a stereo headphone jack, which allows users to operate their camera as a mobile media player device. With the COOLPIX S810c users can easily navigate to their dinner date, while listening to their favorite playlist, and then shoot and share their entrée as well as the night’s details with friends, all with the same device.

Proven Nikon Technologies and Features

Whether sharing, swiping, composing or navigating, users will appreciate the wide and bright 3.7-in. touch-screen LCD monitor with 1.2 million-dot resolution, as well as the ability to capture Full 1080p HD video. Additionally, COOLPIX S810c photographers can explore their creativity with a variety of special and creative effects including user-friendly modes and features like Easy Panorama, which lets the user simply sweep the camera to create an ultra-wide panoramic image. Furthermore, the camera also features a new enhanced battery, allowing users to stay connected longer.

The Nikon COOLPIX S810c will be available in early May 2014 in Black or White for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $349.95

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 3 and it is the most advanced device in the Korean company's smartphone line-up yet.

It comes with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor for the LTE 4G version or a 1.9GHz octa-core Samsung processor for regions locked to 3G services, plus 3GB of RAM. The 5.7-inch super AMOLED screen offers a Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. And the device will come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean from the off.

As rumoured, 4K video recording is possible thanks to the presence of the Snapdragon 800 processor. It can shoot UHD content in 30fps for playback to a suitably high resolution display, but should you drop down to Full HD, 60fps video shooting is possible. Slow motion video - shot at 120fps - is possible when recording in 720p.

Panasonic HC-V700 Camcorder Review http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7309/panasonic-hc-v700-camcorder-review Fri, 21 Jun 2013 00:37:27 +0000 QuinEtiam 7309@/talks/discussions I bought the Panasonic HC-v700 Camcorder based on this review:

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/panasonic-hc-v700-camcorder-review/conclusion

For me the 1080/60p and the telemacro mode are the two best things about this camcorder.

I shoot for Microstock and Vimeo, I can't tell you a codex from a follow-focus. I point/shoot and hope it looks good.

The 1080/60i mode has weird interlaced kinda lines, not sure if it's my workflow or what.

I've owned the GH1, Sony A55, Nikon P500 and Gopro Hero2 and this Camcorder produces a better image.

Here's a Time Lapse I shot, just sped-up to 800% in Motion5.

Grizzly shot a full zoom, slowed from 60p to 30p.

Telemacro shot.

another one

60i shot

There's a 180 photo burst mode that is kinda neat...

I have shaky hands but I think someone could make the zoom work smoothly

Apparently the updated Panasonic HC-v720 model is slightly better. http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-camcorder-is-the-panasonic-hc-v720/

For $460 it's a pretty good Camcorder. I think.
