GoPro Hero+ LCD http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13087/gopro-hero-lcd- Mon, 01 Jun 2015 08:03:59 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 13087@/talks/discussions

GoPro, Inc. (NASDAQ:GPRO), enabler of some of today’s most immersive and engaging content, has announced the availability of its new HERO+ LCD camera. Capturing life-like high definition 1080p60 video and 8MP photos, the HERO+ LCD features a convenient touch display for easy shot framing, settings control and access to an all-new in-camera video trimming feature. Like the entry-level HERO, the HERO+ LCD is built directly into its waterproof housing. The simplicity of this all-in-one design now combines with expanded features to make capturing life’s memorable moments easier than ever.

Rugged and waterproof to 131’ (40m), HERO+ LCD also includes advanced features like HiLight Tagging and in-camera video trimming to make it easier to identify and share your favorite moments. HiLight Tagging lets you mark key moments while recording and during playback so you can easily find them later, and the all-new video trimming feature allows you to create short clips in-camera for easier sharing without a computer.

Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® connect the HERO+ LCD to your GoPro App-enabled smartphone or tablet for easy camera control and shot preview when your camera is mounted or out of reach. The GoPro App also allows for easy content sharing to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and more and combines with the new in-camera video trimming feature to form a convenient content sharing solution.

“HERO+ LCD illustrates that even as we push the limits of life capture with bleeding-edge devices like the Hero4 Black, we’re also focused on delivering accessible, high-quality capture solutions to anyone wanting to GoPro,” said Nick Woodman, founder and CEO of GoPro.

Available June 7th for $299

What is a great/best video camcorder? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12915/what-is-a-greatbest-video-camcorder Sat, 02 May 2015 07:35:48 +0000 Mysteryman3 12915@/talks/discussions What is a great best video camcorder? I think the sony cx700 and the sony cx730 are nice camcorders? Are there some hidden gems? Also not to expensive. Low light is were most camcorders dissapoint. Maybe you have to have good lightning then, but also I think a camcorder just have to perform on his own in low light. I shoot videos alot indoors and sometimes they can be shaky so good stabilisation is important to. I like nice colors, reflections and sounds. Also I noticed that some camera lensen make noise, that is also something I not really like about some camera's or lenses.

iPhone 6 even lacks optical stabilization.

  • Both can do 1080p60 (in the times where almost all top phones do 4K).
  • 720p240

HC-X1000 in Low Light http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12404/hc-x1000-in-low-light Tue, 17 Feb 2015 07:44:43 +0000 RRRoger 12404@/talks/discussions I have a Panasonic HC-X1000 on order. How well will it handle Low Light? Do the dual processors, etc help? I had a HC-W850 and it had a "blind range" between 800 ISO equivalent and when the IR kicked in.

I am currently using my GH4 with 12-35 f/2.8 lens and it is good up to about 1600 ISO but lacks the detail even at 4k that I want. I usually just shoot 1080P60 to cut down on motion blur. I have tried increasing shutter speed but that darkens the image. What I shoot is 1-3 hours in a poorly lit Bowling Alley. This is done unattended from a TriPod.

First thing I will try is the 4k at 60fps with 120s shutter speed and see how that goes. I hope I do not have to return the VideoCam as there is nothing that is not much more expensive that will do the job.

Panasonic HX-A500 4K http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9958/panasonic-hx-a500-4k Mon, 24 Mar 2014 16:40:39 +0000 derek 9958@/talks/discussions If you don't mind your wearable action cam being tethered to a separate unit for wrangling controls, Panasonic's HX-A500 offers 4K video capture in return. The company touts the camera as the "world's first" option for said resolution, recording the those exploits at 25fps. There's also a 1080p option at 50fps, 720p at 100fps and 480p an a 100fps crawl for judging that swing in time for baseball season. It will also capture up to 30 minutes of video in up to three meters (about 10 feet) of water, should the need arise. Need to get the footage to another device? NFC and WiFi connectivity are built in with compatibility with Ustream for live broadcasts. The HX-A500 carries a similar look to the outfit's HX-A100, but the "main body" now packs a 1.5-inch LCD monitor for keeping an eye on things and tweaking settings. Other notable features include a IPX8 waterproof rating, automatic leveling correction, image stabilization and a variety of mounts to keep the dustproof cam in the right spot for optimum capture. The HX-A500 is set to arrive in May with a £379.99 (around $626) price tag in tow.

Suggestion? Manual Macro Video w/ Live Output http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12089/suggestion-manual-macro-video-w-live-output Sat, 03 Jan 2015 22:21:48 +0000 coilbuilder 12089@/talks/discussions I own an electronic cigarette shop and I'd like to start producing how-to and troubleshooting videos for e-cigarettes (yes, they can be that complicated). The youtube market for these kinds of videos is pretty flooded at the moment, so I'd like to take a new approach to the subject matter that's a bit more artistic and polished than most. For reference, here's a segment of video done by one of the big players in the field, PBusardo (try skipping ahead to 34m39s):

And another by RiP Trippers (skip ahead to 5m30s):

So now that you know the format of these kinds of videos, hopefully you can help me find a camera that will shoot these scenes particularly well. So far, I've been looking deeply at the Panasonic LX7 as it has nearly all the features I need, like great manual control over all settings regarding macro video, high resolution, 100-120fps recording, and a fair price point to boot. However, it is missing one crucial feature that I think would be all but necessary for shooting this kind of video: live monitor output while recording. Is there another camera (compact or camcorder) that can compete with the LX7 (as far as macro video quality and price point) that also has live output while recording? (I'm aware there are current efforts to hack this functionality into the camera, but since Panasonic refuses to provide a new firmware file those efforts have been thwarted.) Are there any other hobbyists out there that film similar feats such as model building/painting, fly tying, etc? What cameras do you use and what are your results?

Thanks very much for any input, and please feel free to tell me I'm way off target with the LX7. I've been very impressed with its results and ease of use, but I'm not sure it's the best solution to my kind of problem.

Need gift recommendation - good basic video camera/camcorder http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11976/need-gift-recommendation-good-basic-video-cameracamcorder- Wed, 17 Dec 2014 08:03:03 +0000 joethepro 11976@/talks/discussions My sister in law asked me to help her find an entry level camera/camcorder for my brother who has started making some instructional videos. They only need a very basic camera, but I want to help her find the best one possible.

The only trouble is that the budget limit is $200... I have a feeling that his iPhone 5s will produce equal or better video than a $200 cam would though. She would focus on good lighting for him instead?

They also have a Nikon coolpix that is maybe 1.5 years old.
