The GC-PX10 digital memory camera combines the ability to take 12-megapixel stills and Full HD video and also enables users to capture high-quality still shots from video clips. Video is Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels and, importantly, progressive recording means each frame contains complete visual information, whereas interlaced video has only half the picture in each frame. A fast 36 Mbps sampling rate ensures each frame of video is clear and detailed.
The GC-PX10 also supports consecutive still shooting at 50 shots/second, as well as high-speed video shooting at 250 frames/second to yield slow motion footage at 1/5 normal speed. Image resolution in this mode is VGA (640 x 360), which is adequate for online use, and recording time can extend to approximately two hours .

The body of the GC-PX10 is designed to provide stable shooting for both still and moving images, and has an L-shape similar to SLR cameras (but with much less bulk) to encourage two-handed holding. The 6.16 x 4.62mm sensor Back-Illuminated CMOS is supported by JVC's FALCONBRID high-speed imaging engine. Other features include a Konica Minolta HD lens with 19x dynamic zoom and optical image stabilisation, a tiltable 3-inch Touch Panel monitor, ISO sensitivity up to 6400, K2 technology for high quality sound, 32GB internal memory, HDMI output, and bundled LoiLoScope FX software (for Windows).

The GC-PX10 is scheduled for an October launch in Australia at an RRP of $1099

Firmware hack for Canon Vixia Legria? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3281/firmware-hack-for-canon-vixia-legria Sun, 20 May 2012 15:54:43 +0000 Stears 3281@/talks/discussions Hello GUYS!

Can You write firmware hacks for canon vixia/legria camcoder models?

All professional camera/camcorder tests show (resolution charts like ISO 12233 Test Chart) that most consumer camcorders can record videos with higher real resolution (lw/ph horizontal and lw/ph vertical) than the best DSLR cameras. Moreover consumer camcorders are are more popular in the market.

See resolution/sharpness tests of www.camcorderinfo.com !

Thank you!

4608x3456 p30 or 2160p60 videos will be shot by mobile phones in 2013 http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3347/4608x3456-p30-or-2160p60-videos-will-be-shot-by-mobile-phones-in-2013 Fri, 25 May 2012 19:28:59 +0000 karl 3347@/talks/discussions OmniVision recently announced a sensor chip for mobile devices that supports video recoding at a resolution of 4608 x 3456 pixels at 30 fps or 3840 x 2160 pixels at 60 fps. (See also: http://www.ovt.com/products/sensor.php?id=116 ). According to press releases, they expect mobile phones making use of these capabilities for shooting videos to hit the shelves in 2013.

Certainly, this sensor is not large enough to make low-light or "shallow DOF" shooters happy, and mobile phones are not really expected to have decent lenses mounted. But the reason why I wanted to mention this product announcement here, anyway, is that I found 2012 to be a somewhat sad year regarding the video capabilities of new enthusiast cameras. It seems to me that companies like Canon, Minolta, Olympus, Sony etc. want us to actually believe that it is still rocket science to read out sensors quickly and do the post-processing required to record videos from that - while in reality, they just deprive their mid-range cameras of even 1080p60 modes to justify their "pro camcorder" pricings.

2012 was the year that mobile phones took the lead regarding maximum still image resolution (Nokia 808 - see http://www.technobuffalo.com/mobile-devices/phones/why-the-nokia-808-pureview-is-the-first-real-threat-to-the-digital-camera/ ), however reasonable that may be. 2013 will be the year that mobile phone shooters will smile at those dinosaur below-4k-video-camera owners - whatever shortcomings their recordings will have due to the mobile phone form factor restrictions.

Don't get me wrong, I will certainly not trade in my GH2 for a mobile phone. But I'm somewhat frustrated how easily the camera manufacturers give up their market share to mobile phone manufacturers all for the wrong reasons. A child that grew up owning a mobile phone that - at least on paper - has better specs than any non-bulky dedicated camera will be a lost cause for the camera industry.

Anyway, this was shot in 50i, edited in premiere cs5.5 with mild color correction, played back in VLC after export. (screen cap) I also used frame blend.. but I don't see how that could explain the problem.

The image below is a detail from single frame green speckles in a certain black area, appearing in different places at different times. So basically there was an object that sparkled with green stuff. This could only be found on this part of the footage. (In complete blacks)

Any ideas as to why this have happened?

EDIT: the problem occured after export from cs5.5, in other words - has to be something I managed to bring upon myself.. or an export problem. Anyway, if you have ever encountered the same - please let me know!

EDIT2: see below post as well.

WTF?

What am I missing here? Why this ability on these cheap cams and not our beloved GHs and AF?

Yeah, I know it's not a hdslr but for livestream events I could get a couple of them to be able to cut to just for some different angles,
it also has a 1080p 24p mode we all love - but I don't know how it looks compared to gh13 & gh2 footage.

Anyone have this thing? I mean... $600... full uncompressed hdmi out with none of the BS panasonic is doing with the GH2s hdmi out?]]>

Good Deals: Panasonic DMC-ZS7 http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/336/good-deals-panasonic-dmc-zs7 Tue, 05 Jul 2011 23:10:34 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 336@/talks/discussions

In the light of the released hack and in overall, it is good camera.

Features
25mm ultra wide-angle lens
The DMC-ZS7 features a 25mm ultra wide-angle 12x optical zoom f/3.3-4.9 Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens. Incorporating Panasonic's advanced optical technologies, this lens system is comprised of 10 elements in 8 groups, with 2 ED (Extra Low Dispersion) lenses and 2 aspherical lenses/3 aspherical surfaces while preserving compactness. This lens system enables a remarkable 25 to 300mm range of focal length in this compact body. The powerful zoom of the DMC-ZS7 can be freely controlled even when shooting motion images. Inheriting the fine rendering and outstanding quality of the Leica Elmar lens, this easy-to-carry camera delivers beautiful images any time, any place.

16x intelligent zoom/23.4x extra optical zoom
Thanks to the newly incorporated intelligent resolution technology, the intelligent zoom is available with the DMC-ZS7 which extends the zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. This means the 12x optical can virtually extend to 16x equivalent. Furthermore, the extra optical zoom function that extends zoom power to 23.4x by using the center part of the large CCD to bring subjects even closer.

Powerful 12x optical zoom
The addition of AVCHD Lite HD movie recording doubles the appeal of the DMC-ZS7. This single camera lets you capture virtually all images in their natural beauty. It gives you both motion and still images, and ranges from 25mm ultra wide-angle shots of sweeping landscapes to powerful 12x optical zoom shots that pull distant subjects right up close. The mechanism design minimizes the noise of auto focusing or zooming.

Travel mode with GPS for both photos and movies
By simply turning on the GPS function, the location data and time are automatically updated. It is great for travel recordings. The DMC-TS7 camera is acclaimed as an excellent travel companion because of a wide shooting range and hybrid recording capability of high quality photos and movies. The DMC-ZS7 further enhances its value by adding a built-in GPS unit into the camera.

Its a really cheap one but it has a very nice price point compared to the GO PRO's and produces 720p60 and 1080p30.

There are downloadable firmwares, but i simply dont have any knowledge and thought someone else already tried.
