Move over, TikTok, your biggest competitor is now available everywhere. One of the biggest video-sharing platforms, YouTube, has a site that is very hard to beat. Now, instead of creating video compilations of our favorite TikToks and Vines (RIP), YouTube has created its own version of the popular short-form app. Last year, YouTube Shorts launched first in India, then expanded to 26 countries including the US and the UK. Although the service is still in beta, it will be available “across more than 100 countries around the world where YouTube is available.” Google’s services are helping push YouTube Shorts’ integration process with the larger video sharing platform as a key selling point for the app. The recent addition for creators of these Shorts to use sample audio from YouTube videos allows for viewers to quickly access the videos that the creators sample.
