Paul Thomas Anderson Is Going Back to High School for His Next Movie

Paul Thomas Anderson's new film is eyeing a 2021 release with an interesting setting: High School in the 1970s. In Southern California, naturally. Paul Thomas Anderson movies feel like cultural events. We only get them every few years, but they always have an impact. Now, it appears Anderson is taking us to a very personal place: A California high school in the 1970s. The movie will focus on a high school student who is also a successful child actor, according to The Hollywood Reporter. THR also reports that casting is underway for the untitled feature's main role, and that the movie will feature a supporting cast with interlacing storylines, a la PTA's Magnolia and Boogie Nights.
