A Kickstarter to Digitally Remove the Rat from the End of 'The Departed'

That rat was a bad idea and this guy really wants to fix it. As we all know, Kickstarter can be a major tool for filmmakers trying to bring their passion projects to life. For Adam Sacks, his passion lies in an utter hatred for the "metaphorical" rat shot at the end of Martin Scorsese's 2006 filmThe Departed. So much so, in fact that he's started a campaign to the tune of $4,000 to have it digitally erased. The Departed was a good movie with a very bad ending. In the last shot, Scorsese has an actual rat crawl across the screen. The rat symbolizes rats. I get that this was just a studio film for Scorsese, but it is insane to me that he would end any movie with such a painfully on the nose metaphor."
