G6 Firmware Updates

From time to time Panasonic will issue firmware updates for camera bodies and lenses. Firmware updates are easy to do and will typically consist of bug fixes to improve the performance of your camera or lens. Sometimes a firmware update will even include new features.:-D There have been two firmware updates issued for the G6:

  • Firmware Version 1.1 - issued 2013-08-27. Connection problem with Apple Mac computers via Wi-Fi is fixed.
  • Firmware Version 1.2 - issued 2014-02-04. Improved compatibility of MF operation with H-FS12032 lens. Connection problem with Apple iOS devices via Wi-Fi is fixed.

Then follow the appropriate link which will take you to the download website where you can read instructions about how to update the firmware. It is crucial that you use a fully charged battery when updating the firmware on your camera. If your battery goes dead part way through the update process or if you touch any of the controls you risk bricking your camera. Download the Advanced Features Manual
Each new G6 comes supplied with a rudimentary paper instruction manual and an Advanded Features Manual on CD. If you have a recent computer without an optical drive you can download an English version of the advanced manual here. (the advanced manual is at the bottom) To obtain a manual in other languages, visit the Panasonic Lumix Global Website

Turn iDynamic off when shooting video
