From time to time Panasonic will issue firmware updates for camera bodies and lenses. Firmware updates are easy to do and will typically consist of bug fixes to improve the performance of your camera or lens. Sometimes a bug fix will even include new features! There have been two firmware updates issued for the G6:

• Firmware Version 1.1 - issued 2013-08-27. Connection problem with Apple Mac computers via Wi-Fi is fixed.
• Firmware Version 1.2 - issued 2014-02-04. Improved compatibility of MF operation with H-FS12032 lens. Connection problem with Apple iOS devices via Wi-Fi is fixed.

It is crucial that you use a fully charged battery when updating the firmware on your camera. If your battery goes dead partway through the update process or if you touch any of the controls you risk bricking your camera.
